Model Overview:

Part of a growing segment of plus-sized small crossover SUVs, the Chevrolet Equinox splits the difference between compact and midsize utility vehicles and offers roomy accommodations in a five-passenger layout. Like other vehicles in its class, the Equinox emphasizes style, amenities and day-to-day practicality over more traditional SUV attributes. In short, the Chevy Equinox is a fine choice for commuting to work or transporting pets, but it's not suited for towing, or anything more rugged than a gravel road.

Although the Equinox has always had a roomy interior and an easy-driving nature, the plain styling and low-quality interior materials in earlier models are none too impressive by today's standards. Later versions of this Chevrolet crossover have made big strides in quality and are available with more desirable features and engine choices.

  • My New Equinox - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I drive alot of miles and practically live in my car, so comfort is the first thing I considered when making my purchase. The heated leather seats provide superior comfort to any of the other American made SUVs that I tested. The V6 engine also supplies pleasantly suprising horsepower and sufficient fuel economy. Overall, the performance to date has been outstanding!

  • Hmmm - 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

Rented this one as a replacement for my truck. Ride is comfortable, handles nice, with sufficient acceleration to get onto busy California freeways! I didnt like the parking brake location (hard to reach when engaged), and the fact that the rear seat does not fold down even with the back floor (made it hard to put large objects inside) Overall, not a vehicle I could live with long term.

  • Great car! - 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

Bought it for my wife, and we love it! It has a nice ride, spacious, quiet, and looks great (we got it loaded in black with 17" shiny rims).

  • I really like it - 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

Ive heard a lot of negative comments about previous year models, but Ive had no problems with my Equinox. Its roomy, but not to big to manuever. Back seat is great. Great options and decent gas mileage.

  • Most for the money - 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

Both my husband and I drive approx 600 each week. So we each wanted a low cost vehicle with decent gas mileage and comfort. We found this in the Equinox so we bought two. I traded in my 2005 outback on the two vehicles. Although, the subaru is a real fun car to drive, it was not comfortable. The Equinox is comfort almost as fun to drive and gets good gas mileage. Id recommend this vehicle for a young family or older folk, like me, with not so a pliable body but wants the best buy for the money. GM has a hit with this vehicle.

  • Best small SUV. Nice and fun, modern - 2005 Chevrolet Equinox

I have had it for 3 months. I have not had any problems. This car is really fast and it accelerates very quick.Inside is cer spacius Im 61 and I fit really good. I got the LS but I put a new metallic green paint and it looks great. Also I put 20" chrome rims which makes the car look very nice. If you buy one buy the LT because it looks better bcause it has fog lights and inside is better. In other words Ill give this car a 9.5 for a small SUV. 10 if I had the LT.

  • So Excited - 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

I gave up my Pontiac Montana with some hesitation. But the purchase of this car was a wonderful choice. It rides well, it is comfortable and sporty looking. I am a plus size woman and the comfort for me is wonderful. The only thing is I continue to get confused with the window controls not being on the doors. Otherwise a great car for the money.

  • A great vehicle so far... - 2010 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

We replaced our Subaru Forester LL Bean edition with a new Equinox LTZ, and so far its been wonderful. The cabin is MUCH roomier and quieter, and the seats are easily twice as comfortable. And the mileage is blowing the Subaru out of the water, as are the great set of standard options. The Subaru was well built and dependable, but was an extremely uncomfortable car to drive and ride in, unlike the Equinox, which is a delight for driver and passengers alike.

  • Nice But Not For Winter - 2006 Chevrolet Equinox
    By -

So far very few mechanical issues. Comfortable and roomy. Also is dog/cat friendly as well as child friendly. Engine is very responsive and handles mountain travel well. Biggest downfall at this time is the AWD and tire configuration off the lot for winter driving. As sold it is the worst winter driving vehicle that Ive ever owned. It slips and slides all over with the slightest bit of snow or ice. The tires provide no traction and are very easily covered and clogged up with snow. Looking into trying to improve status with better tires. Very pleased with improvements made to ABS brake system since the days of my 1993 S-10 Blazer. Much more responsive and quieter.

  • 6 cylinder AWD 2LT - 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

I love my new Nox, only had it for 5 weeks and put about 1000 miles on but has been wonderful during the winter months with all the snow we have had here in Iowa. I have never had an AWD before and it has a different feel to it then the FWD and of course lower GPM but so far has been worth it. Love the quality of the interior. My last vehicle was a Mazda CX7 and that thing was definitely lacking in quality! Also love the bluetooth feature in the car with my phone, I always missed cell phone calls when I was driving because I had my radio too loud, now it just cuts out the radio when it rings and I dont have to dig for it in my purse!
