Overview & Reviews
When the original Chevrolet Corvette Stingray debuted five decades ago, Zora Arkus-Duntov, one of the key creators of the Corvette, is claimed to have said, "For the first time, I now have a Corvette I can be proud to drive in Europe." We could very well imagine a lot of people saying the same thing about the all-new Corvette Stingray.
The original Stingray-named Corvette, which started with the car's second generation in the early 1960s, brought about dramatic changes in refinement and style and made America's sports car a much more competitive model against European sports car of the time. The new Stingray takes similar leaps and is now a more impressive car for the global stage. The one thing that remains constant, however, is how much fun the Corvette is to drive. And that's good news for sports car fans everywhere, no matter what Chevy has decided to call it.
Current Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Specs
While Chevrolet's decision to bring back the legendary Stingray nameplate may be the most obvious sign that the Corvette is all new for 2014, the changes go way beyond the chrome stingray silhouettes that have been added to the front fenders. Outside, the new angular styling gives this latest version of the iconic American sports car a much more aggressive look. The handsome driver-focused cockpit receives an equally extensive makeover as well, with noticeably nicer materials and new technology features. Under the Stingray's skin is a more powerful V8 engine that's also more fuel-efficient than before.
The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is offered in both hatchback coupe and convertible (available spring 2014) body styles. There are two distinct trim levels, base and Z51, each of which can be had in three different sub-trims.
The entry-level 1LT comes well-equipped with 18-inch front and 19-inch rear alloy wheels, xenon headlights, a removable painted carbon-fiber roof panel, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry/ignition, leather upholstery, Bluetooth, an 8-inch touchscreen display and a nine-speaker sound system. The 2LT adds a few nice extras including a head-up display, heated/ventilated seats and a 10-speaker premium audio system. Springing for the 3LT gets you all the above, plus upgraded leather upholstery and a navigation system.
Standard equipment on the 1LT version of the Z51 includes 19-inch front and 20-inch rear alloy wheels, aerodynamic bodywork, firmer suspension tuning, upgraded brakes and a limited-slip rear differential. The 2LT and 3LT trim levels add the same upgrades as they do on the base model. Options for either the base or Z51 Corvette include clear or exposed carbon-fiber roof panels, a dual-mode exhaust system and competition seats (late availability).
Under the hood, the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray gets a revised 6.2-liter V8 that puts out 455 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. With the optional dual-mode exhaust system, those numbers climb to 460 hp and 465 lb-ft. Engineers also made a number of changes this year to boost fuel economy, including adding cylinder deactivation technology and direct fuel injection.
All that power gets delivered to the rear wheels by way of a new seven-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic with steering-wheel-mounted shift paddles. The manual transmission features an automatic rev-matching feature, which greatly simplifies and smoothes out shifting during enthusiastic driving.
If there was one thing previous-generation Chevrolet Corvettes were consistently dinged for, it was the down-market look and feel of their interiors. Chevy designers have rectified that by giving the Stingray's cockpit a more modern, upscale appearance that's enhanced by soft-touch materials that finally put it on par with competitors. The fact that this new design retains the familiar large rear hatchback opening and cargo area means this will continue to be one of the most practical two-seat sports cars on the market.
On the road, the Corvette Stingray should continue to thrill driving enthusiasts with abundant acceleration that's now delivered across a wider rpm range. The roar from the available dual-mode exhaust, which increases the exhaust's sound under hard acceleration, should only heighten that experience. A stiffer all-aluminum frame along with numerous suspension tweaks and massive new tires should also improve handling so this new Stingray is even more capable when the straightaway ends and the curves begin.
Used Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Models
The Stingray is an all-new model for 2014. For information regarding previous generations of the Corvette, please see our Chevy Corvette review.
Going back even further, the first Corvette Stingray (originally, "Sting Ray") debuted for the 1963 model year. Chevy continued to use the Stingray name until 1983.

Best American sports car ever made(so far) - 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
By jeffg13 - May 5 - 3:18 pmI have had various American muscle cars in my life and also currently own a cadillac ATS turbo 2.0 which is a great car. Like soem other reviewers have stated I always liked vettes but not enough to plunk down the cash for it. Luckily Im at the stage of my life where I cab finally afford a performance machine like the C7. This version is a serious performance machine. In order to get similar performance rfom an import you can easily spend 30-70K more than a well equipped C7. I bought a 2LT, Z51 convertible which i think is a great combo package for 70k. Best performance value on the market hands down and this car not only performs, feels and drives great but is also equally stunning looking

2014 C7 - 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
By tigerstl - November 17 - 2:52 amIve had my C7 for 7 weeks. Fit and finish are great & no mechanical issues. Ive owned a C5 & a C6 Z51. The C7 out performs both. The curb appeal is amazing. Going from Touring mode to Sport mode on twisty roads clearly demonstrates the dramatic improvement that GM has built into this car. Straight line performance is scary and amazing at the same time. This is a fun ride.

The C7 is a superb machine - 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
By jrwaurora - December 24 - 9:41 amPurchased C7 to replace a 370Z. Realize after driving the C7 the Nissan was like driving a turtle. This is my first vette and the curb appeal is beyond anything I imagined. Jet black, upgrade wheels and red calipers. Have parked it next to several Porsches and the C7 streamlining and exterior lines make the German stuff look like cartoon cars. You are paying 1/2 as much for a car that looks twice as good...thats a good deal in anybodys book. Performance and acceleration are awesome.

Awesome Car - 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
By wvanepps - March 18 - 5:07 amI also own a 2013 BMW M3 Coupe which I compare every car against (one of the best cars ever made IMO) and this is the first American car I have bought in a long time. I purchased a Laguna Blue Z51 manual with the performance exhaust and magnetic ride control. The Stingray drives, handles, and looks awesome. I cannot even get gas without a crowd gathering around the car. The acceleration of the car is extremely fast and the noise it makes in sport or track mode is mind blowing. The manual transmission shifts smoothly and the clear removable hard top does a great job of blocking heat. I have never considered buying a Corvette before but I am really glad I did.

More than meets the eye - 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
By golfbone - April 9 - 5:18 pmThis is my third Corvette after 2 C6s and of course anyone who has seen the car knows that its a huge esthetic upgrade over the previous model. It isnt until you drive one and live with it however that you can begin to appreciate how much better the car is inn every way. Its much more refined, quieter, faster, better handling, better riding, comfortable and well thought through than than the previous Vettes Ive owned which were like beautiful smiles missing a few teeth. This car is the real deal and its an absolute joy in every way. I look forward to every drive in it and it makes me feel like an super hero when I drive it. Strongly recommend the mag ride, Z51 and NPP exhaust.

My first Vette Ever!!! - 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
By viceroy2019 - October 7 - 9:15 pmNever wanted a Corvette in my whole life until this one. Always liked them a little, but never loved them enough to buy one----always seemed made for guys in their 60s. This is the FIRST Corvette clearly made for my generation!! I was hunting for a used 911 Turbo or GT-R last Spring when I saw the first reveal of the new Stingray. WOW!! I knew then the Porsche and Nissan were history for me.

Best Value on the Market - 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
By crichie - September 18 - 5:43 amIve had my Laguna special edition Stingray for about a week now and all I can say is WOW!! GM really got it right with this one. Ive owned a Porsche 911 Turbo S, Lamborghini Gallardo, and I still own a Mclaren MP4 and with the exception of the McLaren I would take the Corvette over all of them. The performance for what will end up being the base Stingray is amazing. Throttle response is phenomenal and handling is as sharp as one of the super cars I mention above. What really surprised me was the interior...the interior on my car is done really well in brown leather and suede. The dash is brown leather and the doors are covered in suede and leather. Simply put it is an amazing car!

Oh my - Fantastic Car! - 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray
By thmlnrg - June 26 - 6:44 amI purchased a Premiere Coupe with the manual transmission and have owned it now for 3 weeks. I took it easy (hard to do) for the first 200 miles – something that is in the manual. The drive train is smooth and of course the car is fast. I have been driving in Econ mode and still lots of power. Everyone reading a review knows the car handles well but what surprises me is the suspension is stiff for no body roll but at the same time the suspension is not stiff - absorbs road bumps very smoothly. It is like your mind says turn and the car just does it effortlessly.
