  • Money pit!! - 1996 Chevrolet Corsica

This car has been one expense after another. Three fuel injectors have gone (at different times), the transmission needed to be rebuilt at 6 years old, various other engine fixes that seem to cost me at least $500 a fix. I was averaging over $200 a month for repair bills. Paint has peeled off in huge pieces.

Well...I got my corsica a yr ago this august. since then the passenger door has stopped opening from the outside and I had to have the catalytic converter changed and transmission work done. Usually its reliable though the a/c is ice cold. I wish it accelerated better but its pretty durable. I wanted a civic but had to settle for the corsica. Ill be sad to see it go now, but it will one day, not too lovable at first but it grows on you! :) I love her

  • Grandma car but very functional - 1993 Chevrolet Corsica

We bought it one year old from a rental company. It has some wind noise that I never could solve. Radiator hose was routed poorly causing it to wear through, finally added my own cover. Goes through brakes like crazy. We have the 3.1 V6 auto, it has locking torque converter and gets honest 30MPG on the hiway. Great little engine. Reliable until recently. After 10 years, have replaced alternator, torque lock switch, intake manifold gaskets (for oil leaks), 3 fuel pumps and counting. AC finally gave out.

  • Owned Corsica from Day 1 - 1991 Chevrolet Corsica

Im the only owner of my 91 Corsica, which now has 137,000 miles on it. Over the years, I have replaced the alternator twice, the starter, the water pump, and a gasket...not bad for a 13-year old car. The paint is my only complaint, which is peeling off the roof, hood, and trunk panels. The side panels still look like brand new. The fabric on the seat cushions and driver-side door interior has begun to show its age and have small tears. I attribute this to sun damage and wear and tear. A few patches hear and there have fixed the problem, as well as some seat covers. The A/C is a bit weak for the Texas climate.

I Bought my Corsica used, almost 7 years old. I have replaced the radiator and that is about it. Im no mechanic and have really beat on my car, yet it still runs beautifully. I get comments frequently about how smooth it rides. How it stops on a dime, etc. I think with all the luxury cars and such on the market, thats a heck of a compliment!

It was a solid car - took it through hell and back and its still kicking at nearly 200K miles. Not expensive, not much to look at but it will get you to where you need to go.

This is my first car, but as an ex- rental in 1995. I still have it and it has proven to be pretty reliable except for the last 14 months. I have had to replace the alternator, the intake manifold gasket as well as the rear brake cylinders as they were leaking fluid. But to the cars credit, it did survive being a rental car and my teenage years and all the repairs were inexpensive (except for the manifold problem.) The car has just under 90k miles and shows no sign of quitting.
