Reliable Chevy - 1991 Chevrolet Corsica
By chris1604 - June 9 - 11:13 amIve had this car a little over a year and the only major problem I had was the cooling system. Only 2 radiator hoses were needed and that fixed the problem. Ive been having a lot of trouble with the starter. Brought it to my mechanic after I had a fresh oil and filter change and when I hot the car to him, the starter was fine! Funny how after I replaced my air filter and the oil was changed, the starter problem actually cured itself! He said if it acts up again, hell install a rebuilt one at no charge to me! The key turns every time and this I will never understand! Lets see how long until the problem occurs again!! Its a pleasure driving this car and the ride is very smooth.

Pleased Corsica Owner - 1991 Chevrolet Corsica
By krissyc36 - June 8 - 5:07 pmIve owned this car for over a year and its been very reliable and the engine and transmission are holding up well for a 16 year old car! Only major problem I had was a coolant problem (leaking) but 2 new hoses fixed that. It does need a new radiator, but my mechanic put some raqdiator stop leak on and its lasted almost a year!! Will have to eventually replace. Replaced stareter yesterday. No serious problems at all. I love the smooth ride and comfort of this car. This car will go across country and back with no breakdowns! Ill own this until the wheels fall off! Will buy another one for a second car when and if mine dies.

Some quirks, but overall very reliable - 1996 Chevrolet Corsica
By BobTheWonderDog - October 22 - 7:38 amI purchased this car from a co-worker in December 2000. It had 100,000 highway miles on it because he commuted to central NY from northern PA for the job. Even so, the car has performed excellently for me overall. I have had to make costly repairs, but have since learned that it was due more to mechanics greed than actual necessity. Engine still purrs at 170,000. On mine and other models Ive seen, Ive noticed the gas cap cover tends to rust off, and the doors stick in cold temperatures. Also, my "Check Engine" light has been on for 3 years, but I suspect this is from emissions (gascap again) and not mechanical. If you can find a model with reasonable mileage at 10 years, its worth a look

Very Pleased Buyer - 1991 Chevrolet Corsica
By Very Happy Buyer - September 26 - 11:35 pmThe only major problem Ive had with my Corsica is new radiator hoses and a new radiator itself. I need the new radiator- has very minor leak. Sealed right up with radiator stop leak. Nothing else except routine maintenance like oil changes, new ignition wires, battery. This car runs so smooth and is very, very reliable. Starts up every time the key is turned. Quiet ride, too. Might need new motor or transmission mounts. (Cheap). Comfy seating is perfect for my bad lower back! Will drive and keep it until it dies! Hopefully, that will be a long time away with only 139K miles on it!! Love it! Id recommend this car for anyone looking for a cheap, reliable car.

Just keeps on going! - 1991 Chevrolet Corsica
By krissy c - August 27 - 9:07 pmI have only owned this vehicle 3 months, but I can say its a very reliable, durable vehicle. The only problem I had was a new starter and a lower radiator hose and heater hose. It always starts right up every time and has plenty of power, with only 138,000 miles! I did experience one strange problem. Every time it rained, the car would never start! I had a new starter installed, but it hasnt rained for over 4 weeks! Other than that, overall a good car.

Thar she goes and goes and goes.... - 1995 Chevrolet Corsica
By GHC - August 18 - 12:35 pmI bought this car in January 2002 from my friendss mother-in-law who had sadly passsed on. It only had 17,000 miles and now I have over 58,000. In that time, it has had at least four alternators which I understand is a problem with this car. I am going to ask my mechanic about installing a reflector shield between the exhaust manifold and alternator. I read that solution on this website. The white paint is peeling but it was recalled for that. I touch up with Rustleoum. I really have no rust, it gets 29MPG and it is a smooth riding car. The A/C was nice before I was in an accident. I occassionly get water somehow in the car because I smell mold. I love this car. She goes and goes and goes...

Good deal - 1996 Chevrolet Corsica
By Tyler - August 2 - 10:10 pmMy 96 Corsica is my first car as Im only 16 years old. I was looking for a good, reliable car with relatively low miles for a fair price. I bought my Corsica on May 2, 2006 with only 87,000 miles for only $1,950. 3,000 miles later and Ive only had one problem-- The Service Engine Soon light came on and my mechanic found nothing wrong with the car. He reset the computer and it has not since turned on again. Very comfortable car that doesnt break my tight budget for gas. I consistently get about 27-30 MPG. Stock speakers are amazing, especially for being 10 years old! I would recommend this car to any teenager or anyone on a budget or just someone looking for a good, inexpensive commuter!

Love my Corsica - 1996 Chevrolet Corsica
By nancy110339 - July 10 - 4:12 pmI love my Corsica. I previously owned a 1990 Corsica and searched high and low for a 1996 knowing it was the last year Chevy made them. I wanted another because the first was so reliable and went almost 200K miles before I sold it. The body was giving out, not the engine. And the buyer drove it another 2 years before he sold it. I have not been disappointed with the 1996 either. Very few repairs. Just normal routine maintenance. Still an issue with rotors and with head gaskets as the 1990, but if the job is done right, it will go for thousands of miles after. Almost no mechanical issues. The body holds up well. Only the gas cover and the area around the keyhole for the truck are rust issues.

Top Performer even as a 4 Cylinder! - 1996 Chevrolet Corsica
By CatInMyLap - June 19 - 6:51 pmCar was bought used for $1450 [base price] with 65,000 miles. Now have over 91,000 on her. Shes been a real jewel. Formerly a rental car for 2 years then a private owner had her until myself. Only first problem 2 yrs. ago, was that one plug was stuck when I went for a tuneup. Mechanics couldnt get loose. Used "Deep Creep" sprayed on it while it was off but hot. Got plug out carefully not stripping threads in engine head. Today, long overdue, changed plugs again stuck but got loose....purrs like a kitten...35- 40 miles to the gallon still....absolutely love her as much as I loved my first car 68 Plymouth Barricuda. Chipping paint obviously manufacturers flaw.

Reliable - 1991 Chevrolet Corsica
By Johnny - March 12 - 1:49 pmI purchased it used (a rental car) at only a year old and have had it 14 years. I maintained it well and have found it to be very reliable. Aside from the usuals things (battery, muffler, belts) the only stuff I have had to replace are the alternator, valve cover gasket and brakes. While the A/C still works, the bearings must going (noise) and HVAC controls are not working properly. The paint is not bad, but a problem for these cars. For a 15 year old car though, the reliability is great. The 4 cylinder engine is anemic, but but suits me fine, and the fuel economy is poor is town (20 mpg), but great on the highway (35 mpg).
