Overview & Reviews
Other than package and trim level revisions, there are no significant changes to the Chevy Colorado for 2006.
- Handles well on- and off-road, simple controls, side curtain airbags available on all body styles.
- Not much low-end torque, no six- or eight-cylinder engine option, low tow ratings, subpar build and materials quality.

Not a Silverado - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By FL - November 21 - 10:09 amI traded an 04 Silverado 2500HD for this Colorado. Although the trim /options package is a 3LT, it falls way short of the Siverado 3LT package with far fewer bells and whistles. The truck is fairly comfortable with a stiff chassis. The engine has plenty of power and pickup and at highway speed is pretty smooth. At idle there is some vibration. I have had a few problems with rattles inside the cab. When bringing it to the dealers attention the tech merely tied up the HVAC cables. This seemed to correct the rattles for a short while but they are back and worse at this writing. I havent had the truck through a winter yet. Well see!

Great Little Truck - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By TERESA MOORE - November 18 - 4:07 amThis is my 4th small Chevy truck, and I think its the best yet! Its got lots of interior room, and a good sized bed too. I was quite pleased that the base model comes with cruise control, tilt wheel, and a pretty good sounding AM/FM stereo. There is way too much noise from the A- pillars, window deflectors are needed! The base tires pick up every little pebble, then they "fly" when you end up on the freeway! warms up slow for a 4 cylinder.

A satisfied customer - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By Thomas W. Able - November 5 - 10:58 amOverall very satisfied with this vehicle. If I were to ask for one thing to be improved upon would be the seats are too hard. Should be improved on to make ride better.

Great Chevy - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By KD - October 26 - 1:28 pmI bought this Chevy after doing much looking between the Ford, Chevy, and Toyota. After test driving all three I wasnt even interested in anything else. It has tremendous power and is a lot of fun with the stick shift. I love the tall stance and the satellite radio. And to think I almost bought the Toyota!

National Lampoons Vacation - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By Ed - October 11 - 10:40 amDo you remember National Lampoons Vacation? My truck looks like the family truckster. I traded in my Durango to get better gas mileage and thats what I am getting. As of yet no issues. She actually scoots along better then you think for a 4 banger. Although I miss having an armrest or console to throw my cell change or anything else. Shes a little sloppy when you round a corner. Other then that, I work 7 days a week and put 450 miles on every week. Plus, she looks nice being victory red and street package. I am still surprised with this truck. Keep in mind one of my techs has a 2004 with 165,000 miles already he drives everyday and all day. Except for oil changes never skipped a beat.

Check the details before you buy - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By oscarcat - September 14 - 9:41 pmGreat looks, quiet ride. However, the front cupholders wont hold a 1 liter water bottle. The seats with base interior dont recline. Beware, there is no way to unlock the passenger door from the outside if you dont have the $500 power package because there is no lock cylinder on the passenger door! This is a serious safety and convenience issue, especially if you have children.

06 Chevrolet Colorado - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By Joe - September 7 - 12:28 pmAfter a month of driving the 06 Colorado, I found many poorly installed parts. Mud flaps all uneven. Bed alligned improperly so one side sticks out farther. The seats are flabby, made from cardboard I think. The plastic wheel moldings coming loose so I can see the double sided tape. The tailgate lock will not unlock. The drivers seat has wrinkles in it and is not tight in the seat after only a month of use. I am sure I will find more as time goes on. I like the vehicle, I just wish GM would take more pride in the quality of their work. Maybe your average person would not notice these things, I just expect a new vehicle to be perfect. I do like the 6 cup holders and tool boxes. All 4 doors open wide on the extended cab.

Fun to drive - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By Corey - August 18 - 12:47 pmThis is a nice little truck. It has nearly perfect dimensions and there is a balance of performance and fuel economy. When pushed, the engine has a reassuring groan and sounds like a very strong engine. Seating is perfect for four and provides a pleasant ride. Steering is responsive and tight, not loose like the Silverado. At highway speeds the truck is stable and quite with a little more than average wind noise. The A/C is strong and the sound system is only average, the small speakers are taxed when larges amounts of bass are wanted. Driving at night is good on low beam with a nice wide beam. There is plenty of storage inside with a two tier center console (cds below, small stuff on top)

Around the west in a small truck - 2006 Chevrolet Colorado
By jeff - August 6 - 10:47 pmOverall a good little truck. Slightly under powered for the demands I put it through (doesnt like climbing the Rockies while fully loaded).
