Room for improvement - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By Bolo - December 21 - 9:14 pmWith the exception of the AC its been bulletproof mechanically. Got to say GM scrimped on the sheet metal an quality plastic though. Gas mileage isnt bad, but its still worse than the heavier older model 4Runner that it replaced. The engine has plenty of power for this size of truck. Size is very similar to the 67-72 Chevys of the past. Ill keep this one a while, but Id have to seriously think before buying another Colorado.

Colorado - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By josh1usa - December 3 - 10:39 pmI was just hit by a Honda Odyssey that ran a red light. My truck weathered the blow pretty well considering I was not moving and the other car was going about 45 mph. My daughter and I walked away from the wreck with no injuried and the truck remained remarkably intact with the excepton of the hubcaps that were shattered, and the rear axle was twisted (the other car hit me directly in the rear tires). I loved that truck, I miss it, and plan on getting another one.

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By michaelmegga - November 15 - 10:00 amI have had my Chevey Colorado 4door Z71 Ls for a few months no and absolutely love it...on and off the pavement. I live in the heart of the Colorado Rockies at 10000 ft and have put this truck to the test in all area and it has done better than my brother in laws Toyota Tacoma hands down. I have driven both and like the Colorad better than any truck I have ever owned. IT IS SIMPLY AWESOME. Chevy finally built a solid truck through and through.

Great Step Up From Old S10! - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By Rusty_fwg - October 29 - 6:56 pmAfter driving and comparing many mid size trucks, I can now say I am more than pleased with my choice with the colorado. I have a reg. cab 5cyl z71 4x4 and have found it can get around in the worst possible places i could stick it. Gas mileage is good, better than a full size truck by far, and gets even better with a little weight in the back end. Has good sound and turns well. Factory stereo with tweeters is good, but will be adding a subwoofer for a little more umph. Tons more power and better feel than the new ranger, and is a lot better suited than the dakota. Best domestic small truck by far, I would tell anyone to pick one up!! Rusty

Good Solid Truck - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By Russ B. - October 29 - 12:20 pmTruck has performed very well, has a good solid engine, and idles very smoothly. Only issue is whistling noise from AC when fan is on low speed. Dealer indicates that it is typical of this truck since less sound insulation is used for this make/model. Small rattles from extra cab space typical of these stlye of trucks. Otherwise, lots of room, nice styling, well planned display and controls. Engine responds well and ride is smooth for 4WD.

05 Colorado Z71 - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By jvassau - October 26 - 5:14 amI purchased the 05 Colorado after having four S-10s over the past 8 years. I was looking for more room, comfort and economy. I have found all of this and more. I was skeptical of the L-5, but that engine has all the guts of my other trucks and then some, the transmission is great. The truck has proven to be reliable and gets much better mileage than the S-10s, with just a little tweaking, air intake, chip and suspension upgrades. The 4 wheel drive has proven to be good quality system, i believe an upgrade from the S-10, whether in snow, ice or off road, construction site. The payload needs a bit of help, suspension wise. All in all I am satisfied with my puchase.

Best truck for the money - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By Chevy Colorado - September 21 - 3:20 pmPlenty of power, smooth transmission. Great looks. Perfect fit and finish. Very large bed, plenty of leg room. Havent had a single problem. Drives much smoother than the Tacoma and Frontier. Feels and handles great. The Z71 package adds more than just looks. The anti-slip rear drive with override works perfect as sliding out in wet conditions is prevented. Perfect alternative to the full size gas guzzlers.

Underrated truck - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By Dave - July 11 - 7:23 pmAfter much research I decided to get a loaded Colorado crew cab. I have owned Pathfinders and Jeeps and this truck is just as tough. Its getting 20 mpg right out of the box, and the I-5 is smooth and powerful. I know, I just towed my 5600 lbs. Sea Ray 40 miles to the Lake.

Its a Great Truck - 2005 Chevrolet Colorado
By truckdriver - July 6 - 1:03 amThe 5cyl/5spd Z85/LS Reg Cab more than fills the need for a mid-sized, inexpensive, tow capable truck. The LS version is the best value, having several nice addl features. Ride is excellent. Concerning comments about the Chevy dash: its a truck not a Bentley. Who wants to spend big bucks for a fancy dash? The dash is simple, functional, and durable. Furthermore, the Chevy dash is better than the competing Toyota dash because it is smooth all across the bottom. The Toyota has obnoxious protrusions all over the place. The 5cyl is surprisingly powerful and worth the extra fee. Visibility is great; ride is excellent (for a truck).Silky smooth clutch, great shifter.
