This Year's Model Updates:

The Cobalt is a replacement for the aged Cavalier and like its predecessor it's available in both coupe and sedan body styles.

Pros:
  • Smooth ride and sporty handling, torquey four-cylinder engine, premium content for basic-car price.
Cons:
  • A few cheap plastic interior parts, odd exterior styling details.

This car deserves your consideration. I liked the Mazda3 better, but the Cobalt got a good crash test rating. It handles well, rides well, and was quieter than all of the other small cars I tested. I havent had a Chevrolet before. They are known for making good trucks, not cars, so I got the extended warranty, but I dont think I will need it. This Cobalt seems as well built as many more expensive cars.. I was impressed.

This car handles like a dream. It has alot of cool features that I love for an inexpensive car. It configures your gas mileage without you having to do a thing. And the CD player is standard in all models which is always nice :). The 4 door sedan is roomy and comfy and the trunk is huge. I highly recommend the 2005 Chevy Cobalt.

The Cobalt is, thankfully, a massive improvement over recent Cavaliers. The car just feels so *solid*, and I havent felt that from a GM small car in years. I enjoy driving it even more than the Pontiac G6 I test drove, and I feel a lot more connected to the road than I did in the Mazda 3 when I test drove it. The interior is the nicest surprise, too -- all the high quality materials are just such a surprise considering the Cavaliers interior. You all should test drive this car, you wont be disappointed.

I love this car, I feel so safe driving it! It is so cute and it hardly sounds like the engine is on, it is so quiet!

Got this car a while ago with 5,000 miles on it. Its been good so far, has great fuel economy and is really fun to drive, especially in the city. Its great to park! The seats are a little stiff after 4 or 5 hours, and the side mirrors are a little smaller than Id like, but other than that I really like the look and feel.

This is actually my 20 year old daughters car, and she loves it. But, it does take premium gas, and she drives it like a race car. She has the tickets and high insurance to prove it. So use it with caution. Rally yellow does tend to draw attention of all kinds.

Great car. Fun to drive. Comfy and accomodating interior. The exterior is sporty, yet livable. Ergonomics are great, nothing is out of reach. The shifter fits perfectly in your hand and requires only short throws. Effortless clutch activation and great brakes! No need to rev to the red line for power, the supercharger has almost no lag and kicks in low in the rpm range for great torque at low rpms. Shifter sometimes feels a bit spongy and hesitant, but overall, a great car, worthy of its SS insignia. Only 91 or above octane fuel on this car, anything less is a waste. 93 octane fuels work a miracle on this little four-banger. Not faster than the SRT-4 but certainly much more civilized and refined.

I have had my car for 5 months now and it has been in the shop 4 times for the longest visit being a 2 and 1/2 weeks stretch. I have had the air- conditioning quit working after only three days of ownership. It has been in the shop for rack and pinion steering problems 3 times. Finally the cruise control also has been working only intermetiately.

I love my Cobalt. I never thought that I would like a smaller car, but it has much more leg room and head room than I expected. It also has electric steering which is the best steering I have ever driven with. It handles very nice and is definetly much nicer than the outdated Cavalier.
