This Year's Model Updates:

A year after its debut, the Chevy Cobalt features an expanded lineup for 2006. Most significant is the addition of a new 171-horsepower SS trim level, which is available on the Cobalt coupe and sedan. Because this would cause confusion with last year's 205-hp supercharged SS coupe, that trim level is now called SS Supercharged. The remaining trim levels are also renamed: the Base trim is now the LS, the former LS is now the LT, and the previous LT sedan is now the LTZ.

Pros:
  • Strong acceleration with any drivetrain, smooth and quiet ride, solid brakes, good crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Cheap interior plastics, cramped backseat, dire lack of interior storage, dull handling, mediocre fit and finish.

  • Great so far - 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt

It drives and handles great. So far no problems. I have an automatic and I was driving a 5 speed so that part is better. It is good on gas.

  • I Love My Cobalt - 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt

My car feels so sturdy and well made when I drive it because it is so quiet! I really love the circle "motif" with the rear lights and especially the chrome circled gages! I think they need to advertise it more because not too many people know about just how good it is- people might think that it is just a Cavalier with a different name!

  • Extreme Fun - 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt

I was looking for a fun, affordable, good gas mileage car, built in the USA. I found it. My experience driving this car has been a blast! Quick, agile, always willing and wanting to play.

In general, I am happy with my Cobalt. Handling is good and the ride is decent. Would like to see a little more sound suppresion for road noise.

  • The best you can get at the lowest price - 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt
    By -

First of all, the car is beautiful, and fortunately so is the price. Between the Honda Civic, Dodge Neon, Toyota Corolla, the Chevrolet Cobalt is the prime choice! Why? Great gas mileage, very very very quiet engine, excellent comfort, surprisingly excellent sound system, and in and out, just a well- built car.

  • Bang for the Buck - 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt

This car is the ultimate bang for the buck. Great performance, great gas mileage, great style, and all under 20 grand. I picked mine up new for 19K. Couldnt have found a better choice for points all over the board.

  • 2006 Cobalt SS coupe, victory red - 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt

So far my experience with this vehicle has been great. It is fast, great on gas, and rides much better than I ever thought an American car would. Prior to this car I had always bought foreign cars but this vehicle blew mw away with its quality and performance for the price.

  • 2006 Cobalt SS Supercharged – A fun toy! - 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt
    By -

I had the car for one year now and 20,000 miles later, I love it as much as I did when I first drove one. So far, the car had only minor issues that were easily resolved by the dealer. Since the car is only in production 2005-2007, I am actually considering buying another one for my wife. This car is quick, fun, and brings excitement into any day! It’s a shame GM only kept the Supercharged Cobalt alive for 3 short years. I know I will keep mine for years to come.

  • Great family car - 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt
    By -

The Chevy Cobalt is a great family car that gets terrific mileage. It is a comfortable ride, and the quiet steel exterior is a real plus, there is little outside road noise.

  • 1 year old and 18000 miles - 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt
    By -

I just hit 18000 miles and have yet to return to the dealer for anything other than oil changes. I drive from White Plains to NYC daily, approx 120 miles. This car is solid as a rock. I traded in an Elantra for this and the difference is night and day. The Cobalt feeling like a much more expensive car. I get compliments all the time on how sporty she looks. Its comfortable, and feels much bigger than it is. No leaks, squeaks and any other annoying problems. If I had to complain about anything it would be the gas milage. For its size the engine seems thirsty. I average apprx 24 hwy and 17 city mpg.
