This Year's Model Updates:

A year after its debut, the Chevy Cobalt features an expanded lineup for 2006. Most significant is the addition of a new 171-horsepower SS trim level, which is available on the Cobalt coupe and sedan. Because this would cause confusion with last year's 205-hp supercharged SS coupe, that trim level is now called SS Supercharged. The remaining trim levels are also renamed: the Base trim is now the LS, the former LS is now the LT, and the previous LT sedan is now the LTZ.

Pros:
  • Strong acceleration with any drivetrain, smooth and quiet ride, solid brakes, good crash test scores.
Cons:
  • Cheap interior plastics, cramped backseat, dire lack of interior storage, dull handling, mediocre fit and finish.

  • My Cobalt SS Victory Red - 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt

I use this car for work. In 9 months I have drove over 26k miles. This car has been worth every penny. Its great on gas, handling, and performance as I drive all over the state of Florida for my job. I would recommend this car. Im in the market to improve the 2.4 Ecotec engine.

  • Love my Purple SS! - 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt

Really, you cant go wrong with a car thats got great MPG, is sporty, fun to drive, and good to look at. My husband laughs because its purple, but off the line and down the road, my Purple SS beat his 2500HD and left it in the dust.

  • Very Impressed - 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt

Ive only had it about a week now, but I am very impressed by the performance and handling of this car. It is well worth the price at only $13,500.

  • Great Car, Fun Ride. - 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt

Leaps and bounds above all the other cars in its class right now. My only complaint would be the typical "plain" design on the interior that Chevy is famous for. Build quality seems improved over Chevys of the past. My In-laws have an Impala SS and its a couple of years old and havent seen any of the Chevy-Famous Squeaks that usually pop up in older Chevys. Good Car, Skip the Corolla & The Honda, pick up a Cobalt today, youll be glad you did.

  • Great Car! - 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt

After shopping around with the other US made car dealers, we decided on the LTZ. For the features, you could not find a better deal. Plus, we are pretty much Chevy fans. We made a great choice. Being overseas, we rode in Audi, Mercedes and Volvo cars with our friends, and unless you really want to spend $40+K for a foreign made car, the LTZ is the way to go. It is a great ride and the MPGs are great. We are averaging about 32 MPG. Plus, the Pioneer sound system in the LTZ is fabulous. Chevy definitely has made a winner.

  • Great car for the price - 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt

I have had mine since the end of June, and this is a great car for the price. Handles great, quick, great sound system. The controls are easy to use. The rear spoiler does take some getting used to, but really complements the car. Im 63, and it is a very comfortable car. Although, the seats might be a little tight for some people.

  • 2.4L SS is sweet! - 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt

What a sweet car! The new Cobalt is a GREAT improvment over the Cavalier. The Cobalt has great looks inside and out is is really fun to drive. Have the first SS in the area and Im getting all the looks!

  • Forget the Imports - 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt
    By -

Im in my 50s and I have to say this is the best build quiality Ive seen in a car in a long time if at all. This car is tight. I do a lot of stop and go driving and am very hard on a car. The Cobalt is a dream to drive, peppy, comfortable and stylish. The pioneer sound system is unreal, Probably better than most home systems.I have had no problems with the car and am approaching 8000 miles. The bottom line is GM has it together on the Cobalt. Its everything I wanted and more. I bought the LT-2 with the sport appearance package and Leather seats and with taxes it was alittle over 18000. The imports cant even come near that with the options I have. I love it.

  • Not a Porsche but not $40,000 - 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt
    By -

Ive had my Cobalt for 7 months and it is time to rate it. Its great. Im really a big car fan but this is a fun car. I drive about 250 miles every 4 to 5 days and I enjoy. I got every option except the ashtray for $18,200, lets see Honda beat that. Okay it does have cheap plastic interior like thay say but for the money I think it is a fine car.

Very affordable. Gas is great if you drive between 55-65. I usually drive behind big trucks to get my money worth (more mile per gallon). Comfort is great and quite inside. Havent driven the super sport, but they do look fun to drive. I almost purchase the Aveo until the dealer showed me the new Cobalt. Why not for a few bucks more? This car almost look like a Japanese car and there are lots of aftermarket parts that will make this car look real good. Overall I am very pleased with its looks and performance.
