This Year's Model Updates:

The Cobalt is a replacement for the aged Cavalier and like its predecessor it's available in both coupe and sedan body styles.

Pros:
  • Smooth ride and sporty handling, torquey four-cylinder engine, premium content for basic-car price.
Cons:
  • A few cheap plastic interior parts, odd exterior styling details.

  • This car is so underrated - 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

I get 35-36 on the highway often more. I get 26-27 in the city/burbs. I think people need to get beyond the car the Cobalt replaces and enjoy this car. It is very cute and I get compliments from all ages. I know it isnt a luxury car but it is fun for non-hot rodders of all ages, that doesnt mean you are boring either. Put a fin on a car and it is a sports car

  • I got a lemon - 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

I bought my Cobalt brand new with 12 miles on it. From day one it has been nothing but problems. It is in the shop 22 times in the first 30 days because the air conditioning was leaking in the floor board. I called GM and they refused to do anything about it. After that I had to have 4 gear shifts replaced and the linkage in my transmission replaced. It also had electrical issues but everytime I took iot in the dealer could not pull the code because the computer automatically reset itself when you turn off the car. I will never own another one

  • Great Car - 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

Ive had my Cobalt ("Colby") for almost three years and Ive loved every minute of it. Though, like all cars, it has its minor flaws. About a month after getting it, the seal in the door in the back started leaking. A year later they had to replace the whole steering column. Then there was a recall on the cooling system. Now its vibrating. Other than those major things, I love my Cobalt. Sadly I may be getting another car since its so low to the ground and it always rains in my city.

  • Great Buy - 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

I have been very happy with my 2005 Cobalt. The gas mileage exceeds the sticker average by a mile. At 55mph on a two hundred mile trip, we got 40.2 mpg. The car has been a pleasure to drive. City driving it gets 29mpg. Its quick and corners well.

  • Great Car for the money - 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

I just bought my Cobalt back in February and I cant complain about it at all. The Cobalt is decades better than the Cavalier and you cannot compare the two. The car handles so nice and the build quality is excellent. As well, the car has plenty of power with the 2.2L, especially on the highway in the higher RPMs.

  • New car report - 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

I purchased this car because I wanted to save on gas! I drive 70 to 100 miles per day and gas prices are out of control. The window sticker said I would receive 33 MPG-- What a pleasent surprize I received --- I am receiving 40 to 44 MPG on my new Cobalt. I now have 1500 miles on my car.

  • Good car......some flaws! - 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

I went from a ZR2 Blazer to a Cobalt. I miss the 4WD, but love the fuel economy. I drive approx. 3000mi. per month and have saved a lot in gas $$. But at 18000mi the trans. control module fried, I had to have a whole new sunroof put in within 2 weeks of purchase, the rearview mirror fell off, the e-brake light randomly comes on & i never use the e-brake, the cd player has a mond of its own. When braking hard on the highway, it makes a loud rubbing noise that nobody can figure out. But for the gas $$ I save these are just little things that are under warranty. Cant wait to see what goes wrong once the warranty runs out.

  • 2005 Cobalt LS Coupe - 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt
    By -

So far my Cobalt has been great. I have the LS Coupe (5spd) with sport package. I have not had any problems at all. Gas mileage is ok; I get about 30-31hgwy, 23-24 City. Performance is pretty good; more standard power then civic or corolla. Ride is comfortable; very quiet also takes rough roads well. If your a fan of driving stick, like me, youll enjoy how this car shifts. Its smooth and not boxy like other cars. Im very happy thus far, other just missing the emlpoyee discount.

  • Great, affordable car - 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

I got a 2005 LS Cobalt as a lease while in college. After 34,645 miles, I have had no problems with the car. The only service the car has required are regular oil changes, seasonal maintenance, tire rotation, and yearly inspection. I have only had one issue - on occasion, CDs will stick in the player and it will return an error. They usually eject after pressing the button several times or turning the radio on and off. All in all a great car for the money. Excellent gas mileage, does well on road trips, has low road noise, and the computer gages are great for tracking gas mileage.

  • I love it! - 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt

I love this car. I have driven it everywhere. It has made a trip from Mobile to Cali and from Cali to Cincinnati. I have put mass miles on this car in the two years I have owned it. I love the comfort, the power (for a 4C) and the stero is awesome! So glad I picked this car! My last new vehicle was an S- 10, and that ended up in the shop 4 times with repairs. So far this will be the first time I have had issues!
