  • I hated my wifes car - 1992 Chevrolet Cavalier

This car came with my wife. She loved it and I hated this car with every fiber of my being. It was uncomfortable, it couldnt get out of its own way, and felt like it would tip over at every corner. The good thing is that there werent any options to break. It was pretty reliable, except for the yearly recharge of the freon, the replacement of the master cylinder, and the alternator. For a GM vehicle with almost 80k mi, I would say that that wasnt bad. It still looked pretty good when we sold it, but my father in law and I are very good about keeping our cars up. I wasnt surprised that the dealerships really didnt want it as a trade in.

My car (1992 Z24)has 220000K on it and the engine does not miss a beat. I have recently ran into troubles with the water pump and belt tensioner (while on vacation) but I feel confident saying that the motor will last forever. I really like the look and feel of this car and enjoy leaving my friends behind on the highway (In their 2000-2003 caviliers and sunfires)

I purchased this car not only for my commute to school but also I thought it would be a nice car to tune up. In the commuting respect it has fulfilled its duty.In regards to its performance, Im disappointed. I understand its not a Porsche but I was expecting it to be quicker than it is. It feels sluggish and I constantly have the feeling that something is holding it back. Even after installing a few performance parts (K&N air filter, etc) it still feels underpowered. If you are looking for a car to tune, dont buy this! If you want a generic, low fun factor commuting car, this is the one for you.

  • Stout little ride - 1992 Chevrolet Cavalier

I have owned 3 Cavaliers and my wife has owned 2. The 92 that Im currently driving has been extremely reliable. I needed a 2nd car and this one has been great. My est. repair costs might have been around $500 or less in the last 3 years. I drove the car to school in Florida and got over 34 mpg with 2 other guys and luggage in the vehicle. The car currently has 121K and still runs strong.

I bought this little car knowing they are very reliable & cheap to fix(price was cheap).Passed mech.fit. w/ flying colors(purchased as is).3000+KM in first month of ownership, some of it hard driving. This little kicker never quit.Runs good, could use some bodywork (long hard winters). In my opinion a good little kicker.Wife is happy too.

  • The Little Cav That Could - 1992 Chevrolet Cavalier

Bought this car new in college in 1991. Have done almost all the maintainance myself, mainly oil, filters and brakes. Always use a good synthetic oil and good filter. KN air filter and always replaced parts with ones that have lifetime warrantys. Have replaced alternator, tensioner, power steering pump, hoses, heater core x 2, radiator, plugs and wires. The thing just keeps running and with 223,000 miles on it, I could see it easily going for another 100,000- 150,000. If you dont care to look great going to work, it will get you there just as good as a new vehicle. Very easy to work on also.

  • Still Runs well - 1992 Chevrolet Cavalier

I got mime in 1998 as a going to college car. Has run well- only a couple of minor glitches. Ive had to replace the starter twice. The first time we had to replace it the car started on its own and melted battery connections! No major complaints. Its gone up and down the east coast a number of times and is still running strong at 137,000+ miles.

  • 1992 Z-24 - 1992 Chevrolet Cavalier

I bought this car with 32,000 miles, still under fact warranty, and the car drove very nice. I just traded my car in on a Pontiac Grand Prix with the same size motor 3.1L..I had over 160,000 miles on my Z-24 and never had any engine work done other than a water pump, altinator, and a battery, but thats normal. The transmission was replaced 2 different times while under the warranty, and when I traded my car in the transmission was going to need worked on, because the syncronizer in third gear was going out.I wouldnt hesitate to buy another one, but it was time for me to buy a 4 door car.

  • Fun, Reliable, and classic look - 1992 Chevrolet Cavalier
    By -

bought this car for almost nothing, it looks almost new.. except for a little tear or two in the roof (not leaking) drives ok.. but since its got a good 400,000Kms on it already.. Im surprised it runs BUT it runs.. and pretty damn good too! Id never accuse the cavalier of being a fast sports car.. its not.. too underpowered for a V6 (torquey enough) but dropping the roof provides a comfortable drive
