I bought the car new at the beginning of 1998. Within four months/4,000 miles, the car had its first problem-- ruptured fuel pump I think--and that was only the beginning. Over the course of the next two or so years, the car, an automatic, would sporadically stall without warning or cause. On top of all that, GM refused to acknowledge the problem until the car stalled out as I was leaving the dealership. Anyway, I sold the car during summer 2000 and bought a Protege--I couldnt be happier with the new car.

My cavalier has been an amazing car! I purchased it in 2009 with 140,000 miles and now 7 years later it is still running with 219,000 miles. It has never left me stranded. Of course as with any car, I have had to do regular maintenance as well as some wear and tear repairs. I had one major repair of the head gasket in 2012, but seeing as the car has continued to run great for another 4 years, I would say it was definitely worth the investment. This car gives me freedom to drive through town, explore in the the country and travel on interstate trips.

I have had my cavalier for almost three years and ive put more than 2 thousand dollars into it in a matter of a year. Something is always going wrong and it only starts up when it wants to. There is however nothing wrong with the car i have had it looked at several times. I wouldnt recommend purchasing any cavalier to anyone!

  • Great little car. - 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier

I have owned this car for 4 years now since it was brand new. I have had nothing happen with it and the only work that has been done is the scheduled maintenance. I have the automatic with AC and a CD player and everything performs great. I live in SD where the snow falls often and this car has done very well, especially the ABS and Traction Control. Performance is decent considering its a little 4 cyl engine.

  • Best Car Ive Owned So Far !! - 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier

This car has been an awesome car for my family to travel in. It has plenty of room for baggage in the trunk, and enough room for the 4 of us inside the car. Ive been able to carry long items by lowering the back seat and sliding the item through the trunk. The power this type of car has is remarkable to say the least. I installed a great set of spark plugs after I bought the car, and it flys! When I press on the gas after stopping it picks up and goes immediately. On the highway when passing, Im impressed as to how quickly it moves around the other car. It idles smoothly and quietly, and gas mileage is great for this cars size.

  • Not bad, but not the best - 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier

Bought this car used with an extended warranty a week ago. From what I can tell so far, it has decent pickup, a nice look, and ample features. I heard it doenst always handle well, but I dont find that to be the case. It could be bc of the tires bc on this car theyre wider than the standard.

Ive used this car for my commute for the past 3 years. So far its been very reliable. Sure, theres normal wear and tear on brakes and such, but for the price I paid for it, its been great. The cars at 80K now, and I have not had any problems with it yet. Im not planning on getting rid of it until at least 110K.
