This Year's Model Updates:

The Cavalier gets a refresh this year that adds new front and rear fascias, revised headlights and taillights, redesigned ground effects, body-colored mirrors and door handles and a new hood. LS Sport models also get integrated foglights and new rocker moldings. The 2.2-liter Ecotec four-cylinder is now the only engine offered, as the Z24 model has been dropped from the lineup. Base model Cavs no longer come with standard ABS brakes, but it remains an available option. Inside, the Cavalier now features a center rear three-point seatbelt, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift lever, a rear 60/40-split bench seat, new child-seat anchors and optional side airbags. Finally, you can get XM Satellite Radio on all cars, and LS and LS Sport trims are available with the OnStar communications system.

Pros:
  • Low price, torquey four-cylinder engine, optional satellite radio and OnStar.
Cons:
  • Ancient design inside and out, cheap interior materials, poor build quality, low resale value, poor side-impact and front-offset crash test results.

  • Very blah car - 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier

With a Cavalier, you get small size, Chevy styling, GM quality, and Buick handling. In other words, the worst of all worlds. To be honest, the Cav is not an awful car, just not a very good car in a sea of good competition. The stylings bland; if blending in is your goal, it may be for you. It was a mistake for Chevy to use a bowtie- bar in the styling; it doesnt fit well and looks awkward. The interior creaks and feels cheap. The engine is good, but the suspension is too loose. When turned, the car sways the other way. According to the figures, the Cav is GMs biggest seller. But those figures probably include rental and fleet sales.

  • Great little car - 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier

This is a great little car if you are not looking to spend a fortune, but want to get plenty of options. This car has all the options you could get in 2003 except a sunroof.

  • Economical and reliable - 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier

I purchased this car with nine miles on it, so all of its miles have been mine. Its solid on fuel economy and roomy for a small sedan. Ive had very few problems with it (an automatic window motor was replaced under warranty and Ive had a tire and battery go, but thats been it). I have two small peeves: the back windows wont go all the way down, which my 11-year-olds hate and the temp control is right where your drink is, which means an extra step when you dont want to be fumbling with a travel mug. Other than that, its been a great car thus far. Im going to keep it until the 11-year-olds get their licenses--if I live that long-- so Im taking very good care of the car.

I think that the Cavalier is under appreciated, it is a good, enjoyable to drive and looks good too. i personally think it is a better looking car than the Corolla or Civic.

  • What a car - 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier

Bought it used from and old couple with only 20,000 miles. Thought what a great deal. Had to got to the dealership 3 times for recalls that take 3-5 hrs at a time. Got everything standard nothing special. Stereo quits, cds get stuck. The seals on the doors and windows like to come off. I found out the car I paid $15,000 for a year later was only worth $2,600, now even less. Can we fix the funny sounds when you can barely hear the radio over the wind while on the freeway. I love my car but by now all the bugs shouldve been worked out.

Good Car. GM got it right this time.

  • Too Good To Be True - 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier
    By -

I should have known the price was too good to be true, I love to drive my car, however that is when it runs. It only has 32000 miles on it, and is in the shop more than driven, and Chevy does not stand behind their work. I think itÂ’s a good starter car, but if you want a reliable car for day to day never ever by a Cavalier. Trust me I learned the hard way, and still owe 10,000.00 on the car

  • Better Than It Had To Be - 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier
    By -

Really nice exterior design. Put together very well. 67k miles over some very rough roads and still no annoying rattles in body. For a 4 cylinder is really a peppy little vehicle. Steering is exceptional. Great gas mileage average 28 mpg on reformulated gas. Up to 35 mpg on hwy w/non reformulated fuel. No mechanical problems w/car yet. If I had a gripe, it would be for better suspension. Load it up with 3 & 4 250-300 lb passengers and the ride is a little bumpy. But, with 1 or 2, ride is fine. Overall I have been very happy with the car. I believe it has been badly maligned and underrated. It really is better than it had to be. By the way, I also tow a 16 ft sailboat with it.

  • Good for HS students - 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier

This car has everything needed for a High School senior The sound system rocks i love the steering wheel feel on it. and the 60/40 split seats in back. the color is Graphite which next the the blue on the outside looks awsome.

  • The New Cavalier Can Move It! - 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier
    By -

Having not quite driven 500 miles yet, I have to say the most impressive thing about the 03 Cavalier is the 2.2L EcoTec engine. It sounds good and, combined with the automatic xmission, moves very smoothly. I really feel the power when I get up around 60mph. My first Cav since 85, I hope GM has learned something about engineering. I like what I see so far.
