This Year's Model Updates:

The Cavalier gets a refresh this year that adds new front and rear fascias, revised headlights and taillights, redesigned ground effects, body-colored mirrors and door handles and a new hood. LS Sport models also get integrated foglights and new rocker moldings. The 2.2-liter Ecotec four-cylinder is now the only engine offered, as the Z24 model has been dropped from the lineup. Base model Cavs no longer come with standard ABS brakes, but it remains an available option. Inside, the Cavalier now features a center rear three-point seatbelt, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift lever, a rear 60/40-split bench seat, new child-seat anchors and optional side airbags. Finally, you can get XM Satellite Radio on all cars, and LS and LS Sport trims are available with the OnStar communications system.

Pros:
  • Low price, torquey four-cylinder engine, optional satellite radio and OnStar.
Cons:
  • Ancient design inside and out, cheap interior materials, poor build quality, low resale value, poor side-impact and front-offset crash test results.

I commute 130 miles daily. This car is fuel efficient (I get about 425-450 miles/tank of gas.) and it was inexpensive to purchase.

As this is my first car and I needed one to get back and forth from work and to and from college and my apartment I must say the Cavalier has completely fulfilled my needs and expectations... and more! I love how simple it is to drive and the sporty look that even the sedan has. An excellent buy for its price range!

the smooth pickup, smooth ride, easy to handle, performance. before buying this car, i was looking for a 4x4 blazer, cavilar, grand am, is what i mentioned to the dealer. and what i could afford was this vehicle! i drove a 1988 5spd calilar one time and i loved it way back than. and i know than it was a very dependable vehicle, which is one reason why i look into the cavilars performance!! I love everything about this car, !!!!!!!!!! etc. im glad i made this decision:))))

I have had no problems this month yet. When I first got it back in May there was bubbling in the paint and had to have the whole car repainted. The back lights in the car tend to go out every month or so. Something about the bulb melts to the socket. Im not lyeing....

I bought this car expecting it to be a gutless stock 4 cylinder. I put a spintech exhaust on it and a K&N filtercharger. the only cars that have beaten me were other cavaliers. My best story is of a 96 honda civic with a turbo and NOS. we did the first run and i was expecting to be beaten ...he missed second and i was gone.....then the second run he said i was finished so we lined up again i got a little better start ..he missed second again but found it fast he was starting to pull up to me hit third i heard a terrible noise and he dropped back and i won again....later i found out he fried his tranny and had to drive home in second gear...
