This Year's Model Updates:

The Cavalier gets a refresh this year that adds new front and rear fascias, revised headlights and taillights, redesigned ground effects, body-colored mirrors and door handles and a new hood. LS Sport models also get integrated foglights and new rocker moldings. The 2.2-liter Ecotec four-cylinder is now the only engine offered, as the Z24 model has been dropped from the lineup. Base model Cavs no longer come with standard ABS brakes, but it remains an available option. Inside, the Cavalier now features a center rear three-point seatbelt, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift lever, a rear 60/40-split bench seat, new child-seat anchors and optional side airbags. Finally, you can get XM Satellite Radio on all cars, and LS and LS Sport trims are available with the OnStar communications system.

Pros:
  • Low price, torquey four-cylinder engine, optional satellite radio and OnStar.
Cons:
  • Ancient design inside and out, cheap interior materials, poor build quality, low resale value, poor side-impact and front-offset crash test results.

The 03 is the best. Not sure why Edmunds feels this car is old. If you look from a pract point it rcvd new fascias, eng in 03,trans is new design. The int. not as cheap as you say,as for the rest of the car, just so much you can do when something works. Why is it that when imports changes fascias Edmunds hails as comp redesign, when U.S. manf does it is insgnfcnt, car is still old design? Elantra is worse,I drove both. Only feature that beats Cav is the 100k war, doesnt help resale. If you read the small print you cant sell it out of your family doesnt help resale. Do a REAL test, drive each w/30k. You find why the CAV CONS RATING is high.

The 2003 Cavalier 4-door Sedna is a great running car. It handles really well and the engine is quiet. It is a great car and affordable too. The dealership paid for my insurance down payment and filled the car up with gas for me. I have a great 75,000 mile warranty.

After driving both models, Cheverolet Cavalier and Ford Escort, I have determined that Cheverolet was indeed the best buy of all choices of cars available to me at the time

  • Nice Surprise - 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier

I happened upon this car with no prior knowledge of this model; and with a less than positive attitude towards the cavalier in general. Seeing this last LS coupe sport package on the lot, and then driving it changed my mind forever. Im extremely pleased with this car!

  • Very Suprising - 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier

I was very suprised in how peppy the engine is. For the price, I dont think there is a car that will match it. The interior is cheaper than others but it is still pretty sturdy and can handle wear and tear from people and dogs. Because of the peppy engine, it is very fun to drive! Also gets better gas mileage than listed.
