This Year's Model Updates:

Not much. An upgraded stereo with a CD and MP3 player is now available on the base coupe and sedan. The Sport Appearance package that includes 16-inch wheels, a rear spoiler and sport suspension is also available on the base coupe and sedan.

Pros:
  • Low price, torquey four-cylinder engine, optional satellite radio and OnStar.
Cons:
  • Ancient design inside and out, cheap interior materials, poor build quality, low resale value, poor side-impact and front-offset crash test results.

This hasnt been too bad of a car. Although, I dont think I get the mileage others do. The best I have gotten is 29 mpg on the interstate. I have had it in the shop 5 times for front end noise in less than a year. But I like the style, and for a 2.2 it has decent power.

This is the third Cavalier weve had in the family. It is a great car, economical, comfortable, with all the features I need. You can buy them at a great price, too. So far, like my other Cavaliers, this one has been reliable and has returned a steady 31 MPG driving about 70% highway miles. Too bad Chevy doesnt make them anymore. The Cobalt is a nice car but costs more.

  • Editor must have never driven a cavalier - 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier

Obviously the editor never actually drove a Chevy Cavalier. The interior is neither outdated or cheap. The power train has been redesigned to limit engine noise and reduce vibration. And my Cavalier can easily keep up with any car in its class.

I love my 04 Cavalier. It is quite zippy, stylish, and feels good behind the wheel. I drive it back and fourth to work 35 miles each way and it is perfect for this or any other travel application. It is small enough that it is highly manuverable, yet large enough that I dont feel intimidated. A great car. Im sure the "Cobalt" will be even better.

My family has driven Honda civics, Toyota corollas, and Chevy cavaliers. Honda and Toyota are HIGHLY OVER RATED. Hondas burn oil, have fuel and electrical systems problems. Toyotas burn oil, have manifold problems leaking carbon monoxide into the passenger compartment. Chevys have proven solid through 5 knuckle-head teenage drivers, and within reach of 200,000 miles. So I bought a new 2003 cavalier and expect over 200,000 miles out of it.

  • Way better than my HONDA - 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier

After having so MANY PROBLEMS with my 2001 HONDA CIVIC, this is way better. It doesnt break down like the civic. The sales people were nicer and not so arrogant.

  • A GREAT BUY! - 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier

well to be honest im a honda person. but my fiance had her eye set on a cavalier ls sports coupe. id never been in one but im sure glad we bought one. the way it shines with its shiny rims, sunroof and ground effects. i dont get what all the complaints are about the performance and the interior i think its just as nice or better than comparable cars in its class sure you save more gas in a civic but no way a civic can pickup like this car can.

  • What more can you expect? - 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier

You cant buy a better car...for the money. If you want a luxury or sports car, shell out the cash for one. If you want a nice ride, decent pickup, and a satisfactory interior for a cheap price, this is the car to get. I buy a new car every year and owned Camrys, Accords and SUVs. This car gets good gas mileage is easy to drive and for much lower cost than most others.

I bought my 04 Cavalier back in 04. I love the way my car handles, I love the way the car looks (especially since I lowered it and added rims to it). I find the car has great fuel mileage. I own the Z-Type which is the Z-24 without the power options and 16" rims. after 2 years, the car has treated me good with no problems.

  • Great car for all - 2004 Chevrolet Cavalier

My wife And I purchased this car during a snowy wet cold Tuesday night in January. We (and about 5 salesmen) were the only people in the dealership. Bottom line, we stole this gem for around $8900.00 +tax. We had rebates and a $2000.00 coupon. The car is great on gas, 30mpg. We use it for work and a back-up. The interior is a little cramped when all 4 of us are in it. It looks just as good as the day we bought it . We garage it and are meticulous with the care of it. The front would shake during stopping and the wheel covers were squeaking. A quick trip to the dealer to cut the rotors and grease the contact points of were the rubber bumpers contacted the metal and we were good to go.
