Car has 246,000 miles with no major issues except for normal maintence like tune ups and tires. Still runs like new and had no problem going through the sniffer.

Ive had this car since we bought it new. She doesnt owe us a nickel! With 188K miles on it, my husband still takes her out on roadtrips over 400 miles one way. He travelled from Philly to Cle on a single tank of gas. He has driven this car very hard over the years and she still just zips right along. Now that he has a new truck, Im left choosing between the 96 Saturn with 120K miles or or my old faithful girl. Guess which one Id choose?? But with my luck, the day I sell the Saturn and all its troubles, my cav will give up the ghost! This is our 2nd Cav, and Id buy another if I didnt have 2 growing kids.

  • Unbelievable - 1992 Chevrolet Cavalier

Ive had this car for 6 years. Of the 15 cars Ive owned over 20 years, this has been the most reliable, best investment I ever made. I was skeptical at first, but it has proven itself. I bought it with 113K miles and it now has 186K miles. Ive had very few, minor problems with it and until this week, the A/C froze me out on the hottest Florida days. Believe the compressor is still good hopefully just a leak.

  • Very Dependable Wagon - 1992 Chevrolet Cavalier

The car was in the family since 94 and has been reliable for us the entire time. The 3.1 V6 is a powerful engine for this class of car. It has 140K and the only major problems were an alterator and a power steering unit replacement. The only trouble im having with it now is a transmission fluid leak but it still shifts flawlessly. The interior has a few broken pieces as well. Also ther is some surface rust showing up. I definitely recommend this car for those who like a dependable car with lots of people/cargo room. Also, try to find one with a V6.

My car (1992 Z24)has 220000K on it and the engine does not miss a beat. I have recently ran into troubles with the water pump and belt tensioner (while on vacation) but I feel confident saying that the motor will last forever. I really like the look and feel of this car and enjoy leaving my friends behind on the highway (In their 2000-2003 caviliers and sunfires)

  • Stout little ride - 1992 Chevrolet Cavalier

I have owned 3 Cavaliers and my wife has owned 2. The 92 that Im currently driving has been extremely reliable. I needed a 2nd car and this one has been great. My est. repair costs might have been around $500 or less in the last 3 years. I drove the car to school in Florida and got over 34 mpg with 2 other guys and luggage in the vehicle. The car currently has 121K and still runs strong.

  • The Little Cav That Could - 1992 Chevrolet Cavalier

Bought this car new in college in 1991. Have done almost all the maintainance myself, mainly oil, filters and brakes. Always use a good synthetic oil and good filter. KN air filter and always replaced parts with ones that have lifetime warrantys. Have replaced alternator, tensioner, power steering pump, hoses, heater core x 2, radiator, plugs and wires. The thing just keeps running and with 223,000 miles on it, I could see it easily going for another 100,000- 150,000. If you dont care to look great going to work, it will get you there just as good as a new vehicle. Very easy to work on also.

  • 1992 Z-24 - 1992 Chevrolet Cavalier

I bought this car with 32,000 miles, still under fact warranty, and the car drove very nice. I just traded my car in on a Pontiac Grand Prix with the same size motor 3.1L..I had over 160,000 miles on my Z-24 and never had any engine work done other than a water pump, altinator, and a battery, but thats normal. The transmission was replaced 2 different times while under the warranty, and when I traded my car in the transmission was going to need worked on, because the syncronizer in third gear was going out.I wouldnt hesitate to buy another one, but it was time for me to buy a 4 door car.

  • Fun, Reliable, and classic look - 1992 Chevrolet Cavalier

bought this car for almost nothing, it looks almost new.. except for a little tear or two in the roof (not leaking) drives ok.. but since its got a good 400,000Kms on it already.. Im surprised it runs BUT it runs.. and pretty damn good too! Id never accuse the cavalier of being a fast sports car.. its not.. too underpowered for a V6 (torquey enough) but dropping the roof provides a comfortable drive
