I first bought my Blazer with 61 k on and at 7 years old. Soon had to replace the usual, (tires, brakes, fluids etc). Overall very reliable if you take care of it. Today with 180k I have to put it away as there are serious problems with age even if you take care of it. Last year the tranny went .... 2400... Never been the same since.... But I love the interior, all leather and with the sunroof and electric features it was great. The gas gauge never worked. Now there is a metallic squealing in first gear ( tranny a year old), and the repair shop long gone. I did get use out of it as I travel a lot and far... Have not had front end or ball joint problems but have had rear end issues(axle&seals)

  • Too many repairs - 1997 Chevrolet Blazer

I bought the car 3 years old and loved the look and roominess of the car. After about 5 years the car had many repairs. I now have 175,000 miles on it but it cost me to keep it running. Now am thinking about leasing a car so I can drive a new car and not worry about repairs. The check engine light has been on for years regardless of what I do to repair the car. Was a major pain trying to pass the Ohio E-Check inspection with it on permanently. Paid $200 to replace the light when it burned out. Ridiculous! Love the storage space and look but not the maintenance.

I purchased the Blazer with 93 grand on the ticker, not knowing any past info on the car. I have 126 grand on it now and its been a great vehicle other than the fuel pump dieing but what do you expect out of 11 years? All the options work great, I abuse a vehicle as it is my office on wheels every day in Atlanta. I miss the s-series truck line as Ive owned a few but I guess Ill keep my Blazer going and replace whatever it needs from years to come! You cant beat the styling and comfort! I love my truck!

When I bought this Blazer I was getting rid of my 2001 Turbo Jetta and getting something cheaper to fix. However I have put 10000 miles on the truck and have only had to replace the serpentine belt. Had a transmission shutter but realized engine misfire was the problem. I deliver pizzas so the 4WD comes in handy were I live. However better gas mileage would be nice.

I love my Blazer. My family didnt want me to have a truck so I got a Blazer. It doesnt want to always start because I live in northern Minnesota with -30 degree weather on some days. Ive had to do some work on it because it has 160,000 miles but its working great.

  • Bye-bye, Chev! Never again... - 1997 Chevrolet Blazer

Afvter the amount of issues with this vehicle - and past GMs - I will NEVER purchase another General Motors product. Right now I am replacing my third water pump. I have spent enough money at dealerships to have purchased this vehicle twice now. I have had seven things blow in the last 6 months - rear window wiper motor, water pump, ignition module, idler arm, vacuum heater, transmission, mirror console - and three oil leaks from somewhere. Always changed oil to reccomendations and always dealer serviced once per year.

I bought this Blazer from someone who wanted absolutely nothing to do with it anymore for stupid reasons. I got it cheap, and stuck about 2000 dollars more into it with new fluids of every sort, water pump, floor mats, 4WD vaccuum, and some other things. Mostly things went wrong because it litterally sat a whole year without moving. Since I have had no problems. She was a little sluggish at first, understandable, but has since really picked up. Its been a pleasure to own and drive! I also got 24 miles per gallon highway, but it was twisty, hilly roads that I took to visit family, so I thought that was pretty good.

While I certainly have many gripes, it has been a very reliable vehicle. I bought it new and it now has 162,xxx miles. Its never quit on me! I drive it in all conditions including plenty of off-road and snow. Outside of the typical repairs for this many miles (fuel pump, ball joints, alternator) and routine maintenance, Ive had only a couple issues, but none major and it always starts. I keep expecting more problems but they havent come yet. I have felt a few hard shifts from the tranny, but considering the too-tall gearing Im amazed it got this far. Gas mileage is ok for a V6 SUV - avg about 20 combined.

I think that my car is very reliable. It has had its problems like replacing the tranny. After I bought the vehicle the check engine light came on and has been on ever since. I have had a misfire in the engine and after replacing the spark plug wires and the distributer cap it has run smoothly. The light is still on. I like the drivers seat options. I am a massage therapist and the option for posture is great. I think that it has helped me to be more aware of how I drive. The seats fold down enabling me to move a lot of my junk from place to place. I had to move from Mason City, IA. to Forest City, Ia. and I did it in 3 trips. So the space inside is roomy. I love my car!

I bought it because it was cheap and I needed a little work truck/commuter. The tranny has been replaced, the AC has a leak but works if charged, the gas guage doesnt work so I have to keep an eye on mileage (270 miles per tank on average 15-16 MPG in town) The driver door spring broke off but the door still works. The ball joints need to be replaced, and the engine leaks oil pretty bad. Other than that the engine runs strong (especially after injector cleaner added to fuel). Overall, I dont mind my little beater, but it is definitely a short term solution.
