Catera, 2000 - 2000 Cadillac Catera
By acoalla - February 14 - 2:00 amGreat car. I like the German aire about the car. It is very different from the American and Japanese autos. This is highly under-rated automobile.

I shouldve bought a Camry. - 1997 Cadillac Catera
By carldhayesciw - February 6 - 2:00 amA total waste of money. Ive had this car for 3 years and only got about 8 months worth of driving out of it. The car has been in the shop longer than Ive driven it! In fact, its in the shop now! Im just getting reimbursed for the money Ive paid to repair the timing belt that broke @69k, a month after I just had the starter replaced. I wonder why Cadillac didnt recommend replacing the timing belt then. My advice is to buy Toyota. Leave Cadillac to the retired rich and rap stars.

Cause Now Its Gone - 2000 Cadillac Catera
By Do the Happy Dance - February 6 - 2:00 amCompared to my 1st two Cadillacs, they should be ashamed - not for experimenting, but for not admitting their failure and offering to buy them back. I thought Cadillac had more class than that. Major recalls. Broken A/C valve and vacuum connection, and loose battery cables at 3500 miles. Steering wheel not centered - awkward for driving. Steering wheel squeaked in cold. At 15500 miles, broken coolant valve and bald tires. Custom cloth top was ruined by Cadillac make-ready guy because he didnt know what he was doing. Back seat rattled. Suction noice when heater was on. Bad window seals. Burnt headlight at 10000 miles. Would die when turning corners.

Great Car!!!!! - 1998 Cadillac Catera
By Scarab - February 5 - 2:00 amI cant believe what Im reading in those other reviews. I have driven this car over 50,000 miles and NEVER had a problem. It is fun to drive, fast, handles great, looks great, is comfortable, and a pleasure to own. I think this car is an incredible value. I saw some in Europe not long ago and the people I talked to just loved them. Ive also know other peolpe here in the states that have owned them and also loved them. I suppose any manufacturer can make a few lemons, and clearly those are represented below. Ive never personally met anyone who did not like this car after owning one. Overall this car is fantastic and a great deal!

What was I thinking? - 2000 Cadillac Catera
By nterneta - January 27 - 2:00 amThe Catera provided the image but the issues were driving me nuts. The glove compartment pops open if the temp is below 12 degrees. The auto cup holder stick, the ignition key always stick. I had a hollering match with the owners of the dealership over the tire thread damage on the drivers side. They said it was normal wear and tear. Replace a battery, the steering column leakage caused car to lock up and I was stranded for hours waiting for roadside. Error lights are always on. Im taking things very well but today is my last day with it and look forward to something less classy and more fun. PT Cruiser, here I come baby!

Replace car before Timing belt gets you - 1997 Cadillac Catera
By TheeWhitehouse - January 21 - 2:00 amYes a great driver but unscheduled repairs will double the cost of ownership. With less than 35K miles, this car has had the following problems. Failed ignition coil, lost break lights twice, once was all the lights the other was just the $360 one on the truck. $230 wheel speed indicator to TCS/ABS. $2600, yes $2600 to repair/replace timing belt/tensionor and associtated damages. Ask Your Deaaler about it and pick out another car while you are there!!! Driver door leaks air and is annoying at highway speeds.

Fun Car, But needs more - 1997 Cadillac Catera
By BRice - January 6 - 2:00 amThis car is fun to drive w/ its V6, 200hp engine, but its lacking in not having an option to purchase as a manual instead of the dreary automatic tranny.

99 Catera - 1999 Cadillac Catera
By rvhjr - January 2 - 2:00 amMy 4th used Cadillac- first catera. We wanted a smaller car than the Sedan deVille. Excellent fit and finish and fun to drive. Great stereo although I havent completely figured out how to use it. 27,000 miles and almost 4 years old when I bought it. We will put 60,000 on it in 4 years and then trade.

Most overlooked sport "import" - 2000 Cadillac Catera
By DTF - December 27 - 2:00 amThe best used car value available today. Period. Fit, finish, and road feel are on par with very good European sedans. To date, service and reliability have been outstanding (has needed virtually nothing). Relative to other cars that Ive owned (Saab, BMW, and Audi), Id have to say that its not as good as any of them - but very close. On a cost adjusted basis, its the best car Ive ever come across by far. My dealer has commented that the cars are generally excellent, but when they get a lemon its an aweful car. A used car with history is an absolute joy to own and a real bargain.
