Wouldnt Buy It Again - 2000 Cadillac Catera
By Linda - September 13 - 8:55 amAfter nearly twenty trips to the dealer for repairs, my Cateras rear windows still wont stay up, and it has constant engine sensor problems...the list goes on. I have been told by other owners as well as several technicians that there are lots of problems with this model. I would NOT recommend to anyone.

Nice Handling - 2000 Cadillac Catera
By deborah dziurlaj - September 12 - 12:13 pmI do love this car, however it eats tires. We have had a new set every year since we have owned it. Also, we have had a lot of repair work done on it. It does drive nice and its great to be in. Its gas mileage is average. It had about 25,000 miles on it when we bought it.

A Mechanics Dream - 2000 Cadillac Catera
By lizzyb - August 14 - 12:21 pmThis car stayed in towed more than it stayed on the road. Every time you fix one problem, another problem arises. The tow guy and I were on a first name basis. As a matter of fact, I had his number on speed dial. It is the worst piece of junk that I have ever owned. Cadillac really messed up with this one. They need to go back to the drawing board.

A Mixed Bag... - 1997 Cadillac Catera
By Jon v - August 5 - 7:04 pmI bought this car two years ago with 66,700 miles on it. The Catera had plenty of power and was very fun to drive. Now at 90,000 miles, it has low compression and is definitely tired. I replaced the a/c compressor last summer, and the a/c is not working now again. I also have had to replace several front suspension parts. The biggest problem has been that the airbox (interior air) is located directly under the windshield and floods in rain when its drain plug clogs. The result: the passenger side interior floods with water! Overall though, the car has not broken down anywhere and has been pretty good. When its right, its very pleasurable to drive. It is so quiet, too!

Out to Pasture - 1998 Cadillac Catera
By SadCatera Owner - August 5 - 2:20 pmWhen I got my 2002 Catera it only had 36,000 miles. Lets see, it needed a new valve cover gasket to the tune of $1,100, and oil cooler for $850, a heater control valve for $250, three batteries at $65 each, and a radiator for $450. Now I have a blown head gasket...I am not fixing it any more. This puppy will go to pasture. Avoid this car at all cost. When running right, it was nice...but that wasnt very often.

My new Honey Bunny - 1997 Cadillac Catera
By Lorie Francis - June 28 - 11:17 pmI just bought my 97 Cadillac Catera. I am not sure about it yet. It has a really fancy aftermarket CD player that I am still trying to figure out how to work.

Avoid at all Costs - 1998 Cadillac Catera
By AVOID AT ALL COSTS - June 14 - 2:09 pmIve had this car 3+ months, it only had 67,000 miles when I bought it. I have already spent $900 for a new radiator becuase an electrical short caused the fans to quit, causing the radiator to fail. Ive put a new battery in it, costing $150. Today, I am spending $600 on new brakes, rotors, and sensors. Possibly more once they have had to look at the back brakes. The AC doesnt work, power steering fails on twisty roads, and there is a short in the electrical system causing the radio and interior lights not to work unless the key is in the off position. And the vehicle now only has 71,000 miles. Not to mention the heated seats are out as well. Whats next, Im working two jobs just to pay for repairs.

Where did all of the Gremlins come from? - 1999 Cadillac Catera
By unhappycateraowner - June 5 - 9:36 pmWe bought a 99 catera and ever since weve had it, it feels like it is driving us. it always wants to pull to one side or another. We have also been having transmission problems shifting improperly. The rear view mirror also has started smoking on occasion. My wife and I would never buy or recommend this car to anyone.

Keep AWAY from this Car - 1998 Cadillac Catera
By LeeinATL - May 23 - 10:08 amThis car has been a nightmare since I purchased it! The stack of paper from repair work is as thick as a book. The trade in value for the car is as much as the repairs it needs to be able to trade it. I have spent so much on the car that I could have bought another in the time I have owned it. I was even advised by the head of a local Cadillac dealer to get rid of it. This car has been a nightmare for GM and they are not standing behind it.
