runnin the wheels off - 1993 Buick Skylark
By luvmycar - September 26 - 7:18 pmMy dad bought this car in the late 90s as a family car. He sold it to me about 5 years ago and it is still going strong. It hugs the road like a teddy bear and I can drive it with confidence in any weather. In the 10 or so years we have had it the totaly repairs have cost less than $1500. My car has 210000k miles on it and the engine is still purring like a kitten. I dont look forward to replacing it because I dont think I will ever find a car more reliable.

The Skylark I named BUCK - 1992 Buick Skylark
By Rory - September 7 - 12:12 amWhen I first got this car it ran good. I drove it from Independence IA to Waukesha WI for 2 years without a problem. I moved back to Iowa and I started to realize the waterpump was going out. Had that fixed plus 2 sensors replaced, 1 on the engine and 1 in the tranny. It ran fine for a year and a half. Now it runs bad. Ive put a code reader on it and it pulls nothing. It just sits out back now.

Piece of junk - 1996 Buick Skylark
By JP2009 - May 13 - 2:13 pmI bought this car in 2005 as a first car from a friend that was very reliable, i knew he would not rip me off. At first it was great and handled well and was fairly good for being a 1996. I must say i have had so many problems with this car. It doesnt start, i hate to turn it over twice everytime i get in it. It has had tons of faulty electical problems, to the point where my car wouldnt start for 3 months and i took it to 5 different mechanics!! Over all i have had nothing but problems with this car and put WAY to much money into it. It also only has 70,000 miles on it right now so it is not like it has alot of miles. there is not reason it shoudl be this bad other than it is old.

It Never Dies - 1996 Buick Skylark
By Mr Blah Blah - February 14 - 3:25 pmI purchased this car from my father-in- law who put 112,000 miles on it. I have a 76 mile round-trip commute to work and go through about a tank of gas a week. I can get close to 400 miles off of one tank. Had a not-so-easy-to-find electrical problem with it, but once that was ironed out, no other problems. I now have 150,000 miles on it and love it. One of the most dependable cars I have ever owned.

By fatchuckyd - December 13 - 2:00 amGreat fuel economy. Very fun to drive. Mine has a 2.4l twin cam. Very fast, it beat my friends 14,9 sec. focus with just an intake and muffler. Love it

The best car to own (my first car) - 1990 Buick Skylark
By Gabe - November 24 - 9:55 pmBuilt tough, ran great, got some major work done on it, but if basic car maintenance is done than it will run great. No problems until it decided to be 19 years old and call it quits. Great car until then.

Little Car That Could - 1991 Buick Skylark
By JROCK - August 1 - 3:06 pmI have owned my Skylark for 7 years and it has never disappointed me. I have over 186000 miles on it and it runs great and doest use oil. It starts in the winter when it is 20 below and it gets about 28.5 mpg. While the body is showing its age it is still mechanically very sound and reliable. A perfect work car.

Decent for quite a while - 1996 Buick Skylark
By Amanda Cole - July 15 - 3:12 pmI inherited this car 9 years ago and it was extremely reliable for several years. In the past 3 years Ive had to put a lot of work and money into it replacing the entire steering column because of a problem with the computer (that was very annoying) and now the transmission is slipping. Other repairs have been minimal, it gets good gas mileage on the highway (about 30 mpg), the A/C is very cold, which I like a lot! its very comfortable and doesnt feel like a huge car, but is still roomy. Also replacing window motors in the past 2 years was bad news. Several small things gone bad lately.

Eh, must not have got the same car - 1996 Buick Skylark
By jcran2181 - July 2 - 6:14 pmI must not have gotten the same car these other reviewers got! I bought this car used, by a guy I trusted and knew wouldnt give me a bad deal (granted, I did get it used). I suppose most of these reviews are based on dealership bought cars, but this car was just a lemon as is most American cars after they get 100,000 miles on them. It looked real slick for a brutha to go round and jam his music to, it was fun, but I was under the hood every two to three days tryin to fix something. Just wasnt a dependable car. I was suprised how much a car can really fall apart in the span of about 6 months, but then again, its a 96 car in 2008, so maybe it just needed to find a retirement home.
