The high-performance X5 4.6is is discontinued. The 3.0i and 4.4i receive an exterior update, as well as a new all-wheel-drive system called xDrive. A six-speed manual transmission is now standard on the 3.0i, and a six-speed automatic is standard on the 4.4i. The 4.4i also receives a new 4.4-liter engine with Valvetronic and a fully variable intake system. Both models can add Sirius Satellite Radio and Bluetooth hands-free cell phone capability as dealer-installed accessories.

• Less interior volume than a 5 Series wagon, price goes up quickly with options, poor fuel economy in the city.

  Happy I waited for the improved new 4.4 engine, X-drive system and 6 speed auto transmission. Gas mileage has been a very pleasant surprise at average 19 mpg in the city and 22-24 mpg on the highway.

  We bought our X5 because of the sportiness, the safety features, the looks, as well as the interior cabin space. I am fairly tall and the X5 provides ample leg, shoulder and head room, without being much longer or wider than an explorer or a 4runner. It is very fun to drive and is drives like a sportscar!!

  THIS IS MY 2ND X5.BOTH HAVE BEEN WONDERFUL TO OWN.I LOVE DRIVING IT AROUND.I HAVE USED BOTH ON TRIPS AROUND THE COUNTRY WITHOUT MY HUSBAND( JUST MY YOUNG DAUGHTER WITH ME).HE DID NOT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT US BECAUSE OF THE QUALITY THATS BUILDT INTO THE BMW. I HAVE OWNED OTHER MODELS OF BMW,S SUCH AS THE 528i TO CONVERTABLES.MY NEXT BMW (THIS MAY) WILL BE THE"Z"CAR.

  I changed my ML 320 to an X5 and Im happy I did. The X5 is fun to drive and has a very sporty feel to it. Everything is easily accessable. Overall, I am very happy with the car.

  The X5 is an exceptional SUV. It has great handeling in any conditions. It also has great pick up. I find that it is very confertable and the heated seats and steering wheel are heavenly.

  Great pickup for an in-line 6. Fun to switch from auto to stick. Great sound system and is very comfortable to drive. Terrific on long trips, smooth, sound-proof, and very secure on the roadways.

  took tst rides in gx470,and inf. 45..all great suves,but the 04 bmw is a step above. it was worth waiting for the 04. i dont care what this x5 is called , suv or sav , it is the best i have ever had.,car or truck.
