Overview & Reviews
BMW further expands the M3 lineup by adding a four-seat convertible version for enthusiasts who crave open-air motoring. Like the M3 sedan, the convertible is available with either a manual or automatic transmission. Napa leather upholstery and a rollover protection system are standard. All M3s get standard side airbags this year.
- The 1998 BMW M3 is one of our all-time favorite cars. Carves turns faster than your dad carves Thanksgiving turkey.
- Price is a bit steep. Interior is a bit cramped.

1998 M3 - 1998 BMW M3
By ace24 - February 28 - 2:00 amThe car is a perfect balance of power, handling, fit, function and finish. My wife has an audi A6 which I will admit offers a smoother ride but does not compare regarding feedback from the road. At times I feel as though Im one with the road...feeling the slightest ripples in the pavement, smallest deviations in the tarmack, every grain of sand..etc. It gives the driver a sensation similar to that of driving a go-cart (light in weight, very responsive). When all is said and done my "silver bullet" is just plain fun to drive....

very happy - 1998 BMW M3
By Prime - January 27 - 2:00 ampure pleasure to own and drive this car, no probloms and a tone of performance. Even with 51000 miles the car is as solid as the day I bought it.

The funnest car Ive ever driven - 1998 BMW M3
By Larry Sorche - January 26 - 2:00 amThis was definitely the best sports car to drive for the money. Cant get a new one because theyre out of my price reach. Performance was awesome!...turned corners at 40+ with no fishtail and it could stop on a dime. Wasnt the fastest off the line but I could keep up with the vets and beat most 6 bangers. Aftermarket stuff can make this a beast. Repair cost are outrageous, but that has been sporadic.

The Best Car for under $60K - 1998 BMW M3
By iam4ecu - November 12 - 2:00 amThis is an amazing car - it was everything I wanted it to be. It makes me smile every day. As a car that won every award and review, I had high expectations and they have been met. If you are considering one of these, find one that is well-maintained and get it. Youll never regret it!

terrible reliability - 1998 BMW M3
By M3er - November 12 - 2:00 amso far this has been the most unreliable car I have ever owned. The CPO warranty is pretty worthless also, as BMW has many loopholes that allow them to deny coverage of failures. I am sorry I bought the car, despite its performance.

Id buy it again - 1998 BMW M3
By MMMGood - September 11 - 2:00 amPurchased used 2.5 years ago with 35000 miles on it. Has run nearly flawlessly since. Clutch slips a little if you do some power shifting and beat on it, but aside from that, the car likes to be driven hard, and responds wonderfully.

1998 BMW M3 2 Door Coupe Dakar Yellow - 1998 BMW M3
By cac - August 8 - 2:00 amLOVE this car, treat her well and she will treat you equally. Think I would have prefered to marry the M3.

BMW did it again... - 1998 BMW M3
By b0rf - August 2 - 2:00 amBest used buy for under $25k. Practicality of a 4 door with Motorsport engineering. Definately a better alternative to a new E46 3 series, especially considering the stock performance levels and the performance levels it can achieve with a few modifications.
