Overview & Reviews
Production of 1999 BMW M3 four-door sedans ends this year as BMW concentrates on selling the M3 coupe and recently introduced M3 convertible. These models go unchanged for 1999.
- One of our all-time favorite sports cars. Carves turns faster than your dad carves Thanksgiving turkey.
- Price is a bit steep. Interior is a bit cramped.

M3 Convertible - Be one with your car... - 1999 BMW M3
By m3rocksj - January 24 - 2:00 amThis car fits like a glove. I have owned Mercedes, Acuras, and a Porsche. This car, above all the rest, gave me the greatest sense of unity between a man and his car. That may sound very weird, but if you drove one you would know what I mean. I feel a sense of control over every aspect of driving. I first test drove the E36 325, and had a similar sense, but with the "M" engine you get the control and the incredible power. If you ever get a chance to drive the M3, take it and see what I mean. Just be prepared to miss it when its over.

M3, the only 3 series to own. - 1999 BMW M3
By dallasslacker - January 14 - 2:00 amHad a very good experience with this car. There are a few minor areas of the car that almost demand upgrades or replacements near or before the 50k mile mark. Rear strut mnts are rubber and sqeak upon failure. These can be replaced 4 $80 + labor. Clutch stop & short shifter need replaced as origs. are too tall & sloppy. Suggest UUC for upgrds. Service is covered for 4yr/50k but I dread service @ both Dallas area dealers. This has been the worst part of owning the M3. I could not wait until the warranty xpired so I could take it to another BMW shop in Plano. Its too bad the service is slow, unprofessional & inconsistent.

My winter car - 1999 BMW M3
By lfbmdpc - September 4 - 2:00 amI bought this used in 2001, it had 38K miles & was a "clean" used car. Its my winter car, since I store my 01 996 porsche cab here in snow country. Car is great, even with the 40+K miles now on it. Tight, fast, great stick, superior fit and finish. I look forward to fall when it comes out of storage!

Ultimate Performance Sedan - 1999 BMW M3
By Greg Zielinski - July 10 - 2:00 amIn short, great acceleration, unmatched handling and a blast to drive. BMW service is superb. Most people may not know this but EACH person who visits their facilities judges the BMW service centers. Everyone time I’ve gone in for service (Maintenance is paid for the first 3 years/ 36K miles) I’ve had a follow up call from BMW. They ask you about all aspects of the visit and grades you response as follows , “Excellent” = A, “Good” = C, “Fair” = F. I’ve had the car for three years and just plain enjoy every aspect of it. Any downsides? Ownership costs may be considered high to some.

Fun to drive - 1999 BMW M3
By M3Pilot - July 4 - 2:00 amThe 1999 BMW M3 Convertible is a fun car to drive. The engine is peppy and the handling is awesome. Driving through winding roads is a blast because the car practically hugs the road. Acceleration is great due to the smooth revving V6 engine. The interior is nice but luggage room is very tight.
