This Year's Model Updates:

An optional sequential manual gearbox makes its way into the 2002 BMW M3, which allows the driver to shift with almost instantaneous precision without a clutch. A CD player becomes standard, the automatic climate control has been revised and rear-seat side airbags are optional for both the coupe and convertible.

Pros:
  • Astonishing performance, prodigious thrust, truly a bargain compared to its competition.
Cons:
  • Difficult ingress/egress, ride can be rough around town.

Well, I finally got my hands on an M3 cabrio of my very own. I can’t stop ranting and raving about it. The technology integrated into this machine is nothing short of amazing. I’m blown away by the performance of such a docile looking vehicle. That’s probably my favorite part of owning it. No one knows it’s a hot rod in disguise. Until you mash the go pedal and the rears light up while the car strays sideways. Wow! All this and seating for four adults AND luggage. Used to have an S2000 for 3.5 years before the M3. God bless the S2000 performance, etc, but the M3 really has it all. S2000 performance, but with comfort and room for luggage, the cooler and the Hibachi for the weekend getaways.

The current M3 is a dream for a performance car enthusiast. With few exceptions, it will bury the competition with always blistering accelleration and it will stop in a heartbeat. Handling is second to none, as might be expected with a chassis and mechanics tuned for the Nurburgring. Where else can you buy a world class, track-ready sport coupe that will also seat 4 comfortably - with luggage. Fit, finish and quality of materials is second to none. BMW - form does follow function.

Purchased with performance in mind. Received one from Germany without a governor. Excellent car would highly recomend.

I absolutely love my M3. Upgraded suspension, lowered 1.5", and installed 19" ZCP wheels (forged BBS).

Got the silver 6-speed manual and this car is a total blast. Best car Ive driven. Massive power and torque at every gear. Have even started the car in 2nd gear. Handling is awesome and even grips wet roads. 60 mph cornering an exit, yeh baby!! This bad boy does not even slip. way to go DSC!!!! Worth every penny cause you get what you paid for. Car looks damn good too. If you dont want to do any serious driving, this ride is not for you get a 325!!

Pure performance not just speed, the best quality miles going to work or anywhere, it is daily fun all over, without sacrificing comfort, safety and practicality

  • Perfect Sports Car - (with some flaws) - 2002 BMW M3
    By -

I join in all the hyperbolic praise that has been heaped on this car. It is fast, beautiful, handles tremendously, and has brakes that will suck your eyeballs out of your head. Here are the negatives: the convertible top is aggravating it rattles and squeaks incessantly, and dealers dont know how to fix it. (The solution: leave it down!) The suspension is a bit harsh for daily driving on rough roads. Blind spot when the top is up is pretty bad (The solution: leave it down!). With the windblocker in place, you cant use the back seat. (The solution: leave kids at home!). Biggest gripe: EVERYONE wants to race you - annoying, although you can beat them all.
