  • Great car for a good price - 2001 Audi S4

I got this car as an early 18th birthday present. paid $29k for it online. This is probably the fastest car from 0-40 in the world, and i am saying this b/c you get your max torque at 1850 RPMs, so off the line you step on it and go. Since buying this car, i have dropped about 10k in APR products and im putting down 375HP/400 torque on stock turbos, mind you that 400 torque comes in at 1850 RPMS. Anyone who gets this car should get the ECU upgrade, because for <1000 dollars you will get approx 70HP/110 Torque. Car handles great w/ stock brakes, even better w/ brembos. Great all around stock car with loads of potential to be modified into a supercar.

  • living with an S4 AVANT - 2001 Audi S4

I went from an A4 avant to an S4 avant by accident. I visited the dealership to purchase some touch-up paint for the A4...a friend there asked me If I liked the S4, to which I replied yes except for the shift linkage. He tossed me the keys to an S4 AVANT Tip and said "go drive this for a while" well after an hour I ended up with a new car! It has been flawless for me and is great fun to drive. most people dont realize that a little eurpoean stationwagon can turn in a sub 6 second 0-60 time. It performs flawlessly in daily city driving as well as extended road trips. If it has a flaw it would be that at 120 mph you feel like you are doing 60. I LOVE this car!

5.5 sec to 60mph the 04 S4 with 340hp is only 0.1-0.2 sec faster and has a very harsh ride but a little better handling and shifter (but at a $50K price). Winter requires snow tires. Large trunk and full-size spare tire. Owners manual calls for 0w-30 or 5w-30 oil the local dealer only carries 10w-30 so I have to bring my own oil in. Only reliability problem was a seat heater needing replacement at 49K. Nice Bose needs bass help the Avant has a subwoofer. Touchy brakes stop quickly. Ive averaged 24.4mpg since 3/01 - trip computer exaggerates mpg by 10%. I track every fill-up. Over one 10K stretch, the trip computer overstated the actual by 2.4 mpg

I was looking for a performance vehicle that could carry more than a overnight case, and this is it. Its looks may not scream speed and handling, but that is just fine, since these outstanding features attract the wrong kind of attention.

  • Balance - 2001 Audi S4

1.5 years and 16,000 miles later I still love this car. As in life balance is the key. The right car for almost all situations. Power, subtle good looks, fun to drive, great handling, all-wheel drive, 6 speed manual, comfort, room for 4, large trunk, fit and finish, exclusivity etc.

This car iz so wonderful to drive, a lot od power, stabability, control and it can be compared with almost any car from the M3 and down, the new one will be a great competition with the m5.

  • Fun, but should be better - 2001 Audi S4
    By -

The car looks wonderful, inside and out. Build quality is excellent. Performance with the Tiptronic and with no chip mods is fast, but not wickedly fast. In city driving, I am getting from 19 to 21 mpg and I have reached a steady 28-30 mpg on 70mph freeways (you can get 32+ mpg if you choose to drive 60mph in the right lane with the trucks). It is a heavy car (~3500 pounds), but that is to be expected in an all-wheel drive vehicle.

  • None better!!! - 2001 Audi S4

I looked high and low (BMW330, MB320, Acura TL-S, Infiniti G35) for the ultimate sports sedan and the S4 was the only car I found without a weakness. The 6-speed makes drving fun again and the cars ability to blend just the right amounts of performance and comfort puts a smile on my face every time I get in. Its the first car Ive owned where I look for excuses to take the long way home.

  • Awesome drive - 2001 Audi S4

An unpretentious, fabulous drive. A sports car that can still fit the family.
