Make Overview:

Acura is an upscale automaker known for offering cars with impressive levels of luxury, features and performance. It's come a long way in a short time, however, as the history of Acura is relatively brief. Parent company Honda introduced the Acura brand to the U.S. market in 1986 in an effort to create a separate luxury division for its products. At first, it was just a two-car show: the Legend sedan, which was the first true Japanese luxury car sold in America, and the Integra sport coupe and sedan.

Though essentially a marketing creation for the North American market, the Acura brand was immediately successful. Consumers liked the features, performance and upscale image of Acura cars, along with the fact that Acuras were backed by Honda's reputation for reliability and low ownership costs. In 1991, Acura introduced its crown jewel: the all-aluminum NSX sports car, which offered performance close to that of other exotic cars while undercutting them in price.

As Acura's product line grew in the 1990s, however, the company struggled a bit. Some of its products were duds, and it risked alienating loyal customers when it replaced the Legend and Integra names with alphanumeric designations. The company jumped on the hot luxury SUV bandwagon in the mid-'90s with the SLX. Unfortunately, the SLX was just a rebadged version of an Isuzu SUV, and its quality did not match customers' expectations.

For the new millennium, Acura revamped its product range. An all-new SUV called the MDX debuted, sporting numerous family-friendly features, including a third-row seat. The Integra was replaced with the RSX sport coupe, and an all-new entry-level sport sedan called the TSX was introduced after that. A complete redesign of its most popular model, the midsize TL sedan, followed, as did a redesign of its flagship RL luxury sedan.

By mid-decade the NSX was gone, but Acura filled out its model lineup with the street-performance-oriented RDX compact crossover, the TSX wagon and the ZDX, a fastback-styled crossover that placed unique styling over practicality. Today Acura is still trying to find its ideal niche but there's no denying the quality of Acura's vehicles, nor their appealing mix of performance, technology and value.

I have owned mine for about 3 year and have kept it stock w/ the exception of a Mugen steering wheel for better feel. .Its funny how it brings on anxiety and maybe even envy from all the musclehead cars owner whenever I go for a spin, giggle. Of course,In the world of high performance you have to respect the big boys /big$$(PORSCHE911.M3,VIPER ect.)Im not stupid. However, they know or have heard of the Type R. theyre not stupid either, laugh. I had no mechanical problems 52K to date(except w/ the dealership=scumbag)Finally, how awesome this car is just look to the Speedvision Touring car series..If this car had a bike for an equal it would be the 250 NSR.Enjoy.

Have had it almost 2 months with 2000+ miles and extremely pleased. Drove both 08 and 09 TSXs and 09 is vast improvement. Interior feels much larger, probably due to dash design. Im 64" and fit perfectly. Avg city driving 24.2 mpg and highway 36.1 (cruise set at 71 mph). Very comfortable on long trip of 300+ miles. Really appreciate that these cars come fully loaded.

We went to test drive the TL-S and ended up driving everything on the lot! I was a hardcore GM fan, but nothing on the Generals lot could hold a candle (at this price). I have three children and wanted something with the room to support the 5 of us on long trips. I wanted comfort and conveinance, and I wanted an overall enjoyable drive/ride. The RL delivers on all counts. This is by far the best vehicle I have ever driven. I still cant believe I own it! The more I drive it the more I like it. I test drove the Lexus, BMW, and Cadilac, the choice was easy. I recomend at least test driving this vehicle!

  • Perfection Product at Value Price - 2006 Acura TSX

This is my 3rd consecutive new Honda product, the last being an 03 Acura RSX Type S. We outgrew the RSX and were seriously considering the A4 and IS250 because we wanted RWD or AWD. We only went to the Acura dealership to find out the balance oweing on the RSX. We were sweet-talked into a test drive and our decision was made, we just had to pick a colour. I really cant understand how one could rationalize purchasing one of the TSXs competitors, unless it was CRITICAL that they had AWD or that it be German. This car is beautiful, performs well, extremely well equipped and is as comfortable as the Waldorf. A++++ to Acura for the 06 TSX. I cant imagine ever growing tired of it.

  • Base 2007 Acura RDX (CAN) - 2007 Acura RDX

Car drives nicely although the sportier ride can be a bit too harsh at times for normal day to day driving. Gas mileage has been quite reasonable (12.3L/100km or 19.1 mpg) but Ive had to watch the turbo indicator to use the turbo as little as possible. Hills seem to make the turbo kick in quite a bit as expected which really drains the gas quite quickly. Cruising at relatively high speeds while feathering the gas to keep up with traffic seems to make the turbo kick in oddly causing seemingly choppy driving. Blind spots are quite minimal as the mirrors and small size help counteract this.

  • good for the $$ - 2000 Acura TL

it is a very good car fo the money i like it a lot..

  • My Rs - 1991 Acura Integra

This car is great, Ive had very little problems with this car, most due to neglect(navy pilot owned it before and left it out on deployment) and age. Only minor issues, replaced the engine mounts 100,000(more a personal preference than a real issue), need to replace the clutch(starting to slip, but could last for quite a while longer. But after 11 years it still pulls strong, nice for a charge up the on-ramp
