Make Overview:

Acura is an upscale automaker known for offering cars with impressive levels of luxury, features and performance. It's come a long way in a short time, however, as the history of Acura is relatively brief. Parent company Honda introduced the Acura brand to the U.S. market in 1986 in an effort to create a separate luxury division for its products. At first, it was just a two-car show: the Legend sedan, which was the first true Japanese luxury car sold in America, and the Integra sport coupe and sedan.

Though essentially a marketing creation for the North American market, the Acura brand was immediately successful. Consumers liked the features, performance and upscale image of Acura cars, along with the fact that Acuras were backed by Honda's reputation for reliability and low ownership costs. In 1991, Acura introduced its crown jewel: the all-aluminum NSX sports car, which offered performance close to that of other exotic cars while undercutting them in price.

As Acura's product line grew in the 1990s, however, the company struggled a bit. Some of its products were duds, and it risked alienating loyal customers when it replaced the Legend and Integra names with alphanumeric designations. The company jumped on the hot luxury SUV bandwagon in the mid-'90s with the SLX. Unfortunately, the SLX was just a rebadged version of an Isuzu SUV, and its quality did not match customers' expectations.

For the new millennium, Acura revamped its product range. An all-new SUV called the MDX debuted, sporting numerous family-friendly features, including a third-row seat. The Integra was replaced with the RSX sport coupe, and an all-new entry-level sport sedan called the TSX was introduced after that. A complete redesign of its most popular model, the midsize TL sedan, followed, as did a redesign of its flagship RL luxury sedan.

By mid-decade the NSX was gone, but Acura filled out its model lineup with the street-performance-oriented RDX compact crossover, the TSX wagon and the ZDX, a fastback-styled crossover that placed unique styling over practicality. Today Acura is still trying to find its ideal niche but there's no denying the quality of Acura's vehicles, nor their appealing mix of performance, technology and value.

  • The interior should be higher qlty. - 2004 Acura MDX

I have enjoyed owning and driving this car. Its a great vehicle. My disappointments are in the suggested improvements section. Paying sticker was painful. The gas mileage could be better. I get 17/mpg. Defrost gives off a musty smell in summer.

After 137 miles the " transmission solinoid " needed replacement. The dealer was less then helpful. It was towed in on a Friday morning and not brought into the shop until Monday after 11 am when I went in to complain about the service and the fact that no one had even had the courtesy to inform me of the progress of car repair. That bieng said the rest of my experience has been sheer enjoyment.

  • RSX Base Review (Auto) - 2003 Acura RSX

Being the owner of the Base Auto RSX, all I can really say overall about this car is its a wonderful driving experience. The automatic Base version of the RSX drives very smoothly and I would recommend it to anybody looking for a sporty and aggressive-looking daily driver car. This car has great handling, excellent brakes, a sporty suspension and great fuel-economy as well. If youre a sport-compact car fanatic, I seriously recommend the RSX, especially the Type-S.

This car was a dream come true. I traveled in this car and the car seemed to be like riding on air

  • Soooo cute! :) - 2009 Acura TSX
    By -

Within a day of buying this car I drove it across 5 states, nearly 1250 miles in total one-way. This is a pretty quick way to judge a new car. I was coming out of a BMW that I loved dearly but like a bad relationship, it was time to let it go. :) My heart will always be with BMW due to the unbelievable handling, but I have to say that this Acura is really great. It is a cute car, gets great gas mileage, and has a wonderful tech package. I would NOT buy it without the tech package; Acuras technology is amazing. While driving across various states, I averaged between 80-105 mph. So what type of gas mileage did I get? 33 MPG! I am only using premium fuel, as recommended by Acura.

  • Great Car!! - 2003 Acura TL

There is no doubt that the acura 3.2TL is one of the best cars out there on the road, especially for the money. You have all the amenities of a luxury car, without paying the outragous prices. I think they have really improved on the exterior looks of the car, while keeping in their tradition for making an interior very inviting and confortable. Even though i did not purchase the S-Type, the normall 3.2 has great pickup, and has a very smooth quiet ride. All around, a fantastic car.

exelent quality , confort and performance doesnt feel "cheap" like most american cars. its a fun car to drive with all the "extras" as a standar features like leather seats, power everything, electronic climate control, cd player... i only had a problem with the drivers door window, everything else still looks like a new car.
