Overview & Reviews
Acura is an upscale automaker known for offering cars with impressive levels of luxury, features and performance. It's come a long way in a short time, however, as the history of Acura is relatively brief. Parent company Honda introduced the Acura brand to the U.S. market in 1986 in an effort to create a separate luxury division for its products. At first, it was just a two-car show: the Legend sedan, which was the first true Japanese luxury car sold in America, and the Integra sport coupe and sedan.
Though essentially a marketing creation for the North American market, the Acura brand was immediately successful. Consumers liked the features, performance and upscale image of Acura cars, along with the fact that Acuras were backed by Honda's reputation for reliability and low ownership costs. In 1991, Acura introduced its crown jewel: the all-aluminum NSX sports car, which offered performance close to that of other exotic cars while undercutting them in price.
As Acura's product line grew in the 1990s, however, the company struggled a bit. Some of its products were duds, and it risked alienating loyal customers when it replaced the Legend and Integra names with alphanumeric designations. The company jumped on the hot luxury SUV bandwagon in the mid-'90s with the SLX. Unfortunately, the SLX was just a rebadged version of an Isuzu SUV, and its quality did not match customers' expectations.
For the new millennium, Acura revamped its product range. An all-new SUV called the MDX debuted, sporting numerous family-friendly features, including a third-row seat. The Integra was replaced with the RSX sport coupe, and an all-new entry-level sport sedan called the TSX was introduced after that. A complete redesign of its most popular model, the midsize TL sedan, followed, as did a redesign of its flagship RL luxury sedan.
By mid-decade the NSX was gone, but Acura filled out its model lineup with the street-performance-oriented RDX compact crossover, the TSX wagon and the ZDX, a fastback-styled crossover that placed unique styling over practicality. Today Acura is still trying to find its ideal niche but there's no denying the quality of Acura's vehicles, nor their appealing mix of performance, technology and value.

I prefer the 2016 tax over ilx - 2016 Acura TLX
By Kathi - October 2 - 12:32 amI traded in my 2013 ilx to buy the 2016 tlx. I could no longer take the road noise on the tlx- my husband and I could hardly have a conversation. The tlx is much quieter- not quiet, but much better. I was hoping for better gas mileage for a 4 cylinder, 24 mpg I really like the blind spot warning and the compas / street name at the top of the instrument cluster. The trunk is huge but wish it opened further when poped open. The plastic handle in the trunk for closing is hokey- your supposed to pull it and quickly get your arm out before it hits ya. I like the new headlights but miss the fog lights my tlx had. I was looking for a car that was luxury inside as I drive a lot but wanted good gas mileage and low maintenance expense and am hoping this will be it. My two prior cars were BMW and I got tired of writing huge checks for repairs and didnt like that people treated me like I was rich or a show off, the Acura to me is less flashy but still nice inside

91 Legend LS Sedan - 1991 Acura Legend
By 91 Legend Fan - September 30 - 8:27 pmPurchased used in 1998 with 67K miles 5 speed manual trans not auto. I am the second owner. Clutch was replaced at 60K miles by previous owner. Vehicle currently has 118K miles and still runs like new. Exterior still has mirror shine with the exception of bubble spots above rear wheel well and around windshield. No rust, just bubbles. The bubbles were there when I bought the vehicle. Quality interior: no cup holders, but this was designed as a sports sedan not a family vehicle. Carpet, floor mats, and upholstery still looks like new. Bose stereo ok. Easy to replace with aftermarket if you desire. If you are considering buying one you will not be disappointed. MPG 22 city/29 highway premium.

Amazing - 2006 Acura RSX
By Matthew - September 30 - 2:18 pmThis car is very quick, and peppy. The 6th gear is a bit tricky getting into if you are not used to having a 6th gear. Acura also fixed the 3rd gear problem with the 05-06 RSX Type S. It use to be notchy, or crunchy, but it is fixed now. The leather is very nice, and automatic climate control is a cery nice feature. The Bose upgrade is awesome!

Great Car but little concerned - 2010 Acura TSX
By Angel - September 30 - 2:18 amThe TSX Tech. Package is a great car with a smooth perfect sporty feeling ride. I love the car because it’s reliable! I so far haven’t had any issues with the vehicle. The only thing that has me worried is the transmission I haven’t heard anyone complaining about it so far, but it’s rough at time when it shift between gear 3rd and shifting into 4th mine feels like it’s hesitating, I do not know what the problem is yet with that. The car is perfect for a daily vehicle. It looks great from the exterior & interior as well. The only problem with the interior is the leather they used its cheap, for an Acura that’s the least you would expect, it should of been upgraded to high quality leather. I noticed that a lot of people complain about the navigation and how Bluetooth is a hassle to deal with, that’s why there’s a manuals book for you to read! read the instruction and learn how to use it. I never had a problem with it.

My 05 RSX-S - 2006 Acura RSX
By Acuraman - September 30 - 2:00 amBought my RSX on presidents day 2005. I have since put 40k miles on it, most of it drag racing at my local track. Its been down the 1/4 mile at least 150-200 times, pulling 1.9 60fts on Drag Radials and it never once complained one bit. Its as solid as the day I bought it, no squeaks, no rattles, no engine or transmission problems. When Im bored of the track, I take it to the canyons and fall in love with it all over again, hearing that engine sing to me at 8000+ rpms while snicking through that perfect gearbox is heaven. This is absolutely the best car Ive ever owned. ZERO PROBLEMS, rock solid reliability!!

Glorified Honda Accord - 2002 Acura TL
By disappointed_guy - September 30 - 2:00 amI found that it was a glorified 6 cylinder Accord with a little bit better tuned engine. I was relatively pleased with the engine and the performance but thoroughly disappointed by the rampant reuse of Honda Accord parts and peices all over the car. I was disappointed by some vibration related noises that I started hearing after a few months. The seats and the seat belts are also very noisy in the front. The navigation system is very good. The stereo is very very ordinary, no base and very poor amplification. The price was good. The exterior looks good only with a spoiler, else it is a bit rounded from the back.

No Worries, Superb Performance - 2004 Acura TL
By doug - September 29 - 12:08 pmI was a diehard "big 3" car buyer, until I looked at the TL. It had everything I wanted in the German Imports, but had a better pricepoint and more gadgets. Gas mileage, performance, speed, and interior ride all have beaten out the BMW that I was going to buy. Good Job Acura!

Fine Car - 2006 Acura TL
By Stephanie - September 29 - 11:23 amI was the "Edmunds Queen" having read all of the info I could possible hold prior to this purchase. I did my research, and I am very pleased with my TL. So far, everything is first class. I had considered the 06/07 Lexus 330/350, the Infinity G35 and even the Toyota, nothing, really nothing compares to this cars ride & comfort. Road noise is minimal. Navi is a blast.
