Make Overview:

Acura is an upscale automaker known for offering cars with impressive levels of luxury, features and performance. It's come a long way in a short time, however, as the history of Acura is relatively brief. Parent company Honda introduced the Acura brand to the U.S. market in 1986 in an effort to create a separate luxury division for its products. At first, it was just a two-car show: the Legend sedan, which was the first true Japanese luxury car sold in America, and the Integra sport coupe and sedan.

Though essentially a marketing creation for the North American market, the Acura brand was immediately successful. Consumers liked the features, performance and upscale image of Acura cars, along with the fact that Acuras were backed by Honda's reputation for reliability and low ownership costs. In 1991, Acura introduced its crown jewel: the all-aluminum NSX sports car, which offered performance close to that of other exotic cars while undercutting them in price.

As Acura's product line grew in the 1990s, however, the company struggled a bit. Some of its products were duds, and it risked alienating loyal customers when it replaced the Legend and Integra names with alphanumeric designations. The company jumped on the hot luxury SUV bandwagon in the mid-'90s with the SLX. Unfortunately, the SLX was just a rebadged version of an Isuzu SUV, and its quality did not match customers' expectations.

For the new millennium, Acura revamped its product range. An all-new SUV called the MDX debuted, sporting numerous family-friendly features, including a third-row seat. The Integra was replaced with the RSX sport coupe, and an all-new entry-level sport sedan called the TSX was introduced after that. A complete redesign of its most popular model, the midsize TL sedan, followed, as did a redesign of its flagship RL luxury sedan.

By mid-decade the NSX was gone, but Acura filled out its model lineup with the street-performance-oriented RDX compact crossover, the TSX wagon and the ZDX, a fastback-styled crossover that placed unique styling over practicality. Today Acura is still trying to find its ideal niche but there's no denying the quality of Acura's vehicles, nor their appealing mix of performance, technology and value.

  • A Lot of Car for the Money - 2007 Acura RL

Like most readers Ive driven them all, but this one delivers a lot of bang for the buck. Does not handle like a 5 series, will not out accelerate a 550i, but it handles beautifully, is great on the road, and has an interior and audio system that puts the 5 series and E-Class to shame. Put that together with Acuras reputation for reliability and we have a BIG winner.

  • Safety - 2006 Acura RSX

One of the most fun vehicles to drive. Bought new from dealership in February 07. Excellent gas mileage, 90 percent highway miles. I recently walked away from a very serious accident with only 2 minor scratches. The safety features in this car saved my life. Wish this car was still being produced, would buy again without hesitation.

  • A well rounded performer - 2007 Acura TSX

I have had this car for a week, but have been lusting ever since it debuted in 2004. My wife bought it for me as a birthday present, and I have been ecstatically behind the wheel every day. The car handles the twisties with minimal body roll, and the engine is eager to rev. The steering is precise, and Honda does the best shifters in the business. The interior has the quality of cars costing 10K more.

  • Great value - 2009 Acura TSX

I just picked up my TSX. Traded 2005 TL. I love the new TL but its too big & I was looking for better fuel economy. The ELS music system is outstanding combined with the GPS which comes with a back up camera - in my mine no car for this price can compare. The car is very quiet for a 4 cylinder and has more than enough power. The fit and finish is perfect. Its just the size car I needed with all the bells & whistles. I looked at the Audi A4 as well as the 3 series BMW. Both of these would have cost me over $40,000 with the same equipment. A great car at a very fair price.

  • RSX-S vs EVO vs WRX - 2004 Acura RSX
    By -

Great and awesome car all around. Perfect between performance and drivability. Has potential to be a pretty fast car. But not as much potential compared to WRX or Evo. This is not the car if you want to be extremely fast. This car is a balance between performance and luxury. Interior is very nice. Looks are awesome compared to WRX. This car will be hard to compete with cars like Evo and WRX STi since this car is afterall FWD. Overall I love this car and is a great all around vehicle. Bose system is kind of lacking. But other than that I have no real complaints. Perfect balance between performance and drivability.

  • Lots to like; easy to be with. - 2004 Acura MDX

This is by far the most comfortable vehicle I have ever driven. Everything manages to be in the right place to find it and the little features of automation really work to make the driving pleasant. The heating system, while short of all the buttons, knobs and zones of some others, simply works. I (we) seldome change any setting, save the back seat control to allow passengers their say The second seats are the surprise.... they recline. Backing up with the camera is surprising. Try it in a pitch dark situation to really surprise yourself. And, six though it is, it goes! My advice .... drive this "bland" SUV a few miles before you buy anything else.

  • Best car Ive ever owned - 1993 Acura Integra
    By -

I bought my Integra in 96 with 40,000 miles on it and have added 120,000 to it since. Outstanding car, always reliable. Looks great, drives great. I only had to have it towed once, and that was because of a mistake the repair shop made that morning (an a/c belt was installed improperly). It hasnt been without its problems, but nothing unusual for the age of the car. I can jump in it and take a road trip without thinking twice. Id buy another one in a minute.

  • good car - 2003 Acura CL

Owned this car for a while now and its a joy to drive

  • Great Car for the Value - 2007 Acura TL
    By -

I was mocked by co-workers for having a soccer mom car. Test drove Lexus IS 250 and BMW 3 Series and while the latter two had great reviews and drove well, the TL hands down feels more like it. For being a Honda it drove like a champ. I guess I got my mojo back with this ride.

  • Value for money - 2007 Acura RL
    By -

We wanted an AWD sedan after a string of average SUVs. This vehicle is a beauty. Excellent build quality and finish. It would be difficult to beat the value for money. It rides smoothly and is very comfortable. We are delighted with our purchase so far.
