Overview & Reviews
Acura is an upscale automaker known for offering cars with impressive levels of luxury, features and performance. It's come a long way in a short time, however, as the history of Acura is relatively brief. Parent company Honda introduced the Acura brand to the U.S. market in 1986 in an effort to create a separate luxury division for its products. At first, it was just a two-car show: the Legend sedan, which was the first true Japanese luxury car sold in America, and the Integra sport coupe and sedan.
Though essentially a marketing creation for the North American market, the Acura brand was immediately successful. Consumers liked the features, performance and upscale image of Acura cars, along with the fact that Acuras were backed by Honda's reputation for reliability and low ownership costs. In 1991, Acura introduced its crown jewel: the all-aluminum NSX sports car, which offered performance close to that of other exotic cars while undercutting them in price.
As Acura's product line grew in the 1990s, however, the company struggled a bit. Some of its products were duds, and it risked alienating loyal customers when it replaced the Legend and Integra names with alphanumeric designations. The company jumped on the hot luxury SUV bandwagon in the mid-'90s with the SLX. Unfortunately, the SLX was just a rebadged version of an Isuzu SUV, and its quality did not match customers' expectations.
For the new millennium, Acura revamped its product range. An all-new SUV called the MDX debuted, sporting numerous family-friendly features, including a third-row seat. The Integra was replaced with the RSX sport coupe, and an all-new entry-level sport sedan called the TSX was introduced after that. A complete redesign of its most popular model, the midsize TL sedan, followed, as did a redesign of its flagship RL luxury sedan.
By mid-decade the NSX was gone, but Acura filled out its model lineup with the street-performance-oriented RDX compact crossover, the TSX wagon and the ZDX, a fastback-styled crossover that placed unique styling over practicality. Today Acura is still trying to find its ideal niche but there's no denying the quality of Acura's vehicles, nor their appealing mix of performance, technology and value.

Best Bang for your Buck! - 2009 Acura TL
By CPR - April 6 - 2:45 pmIve had a 98/CL, 01/CL, 05, & 09TL By far, the latest edition is superior Loved my 05, but the technology, ride & handling, blow it away. Best stock audio system available plays DVD Audio, CDs, Ipod interface, HDD (copies all 2 channel CDs), XM radio, AM/FM, etc. 445 Watts of pure bliss Ive heard nuances, on my DVD Audios, that didnt exist before. Cant find a better value, ANYWHERE!

Great car, keep those PINs!! - 2005 Acura MDX
By seanandre - April 6 - 12:26 pmBought it b/c baby on the way. Yeah, car was working perfectly. Interior light left on drained battery, got a jump... Need the pin numbers for both radio and nav to start working again. Had incorrect pin for nav, cost 90 bucks to pull system out and ref serial number in database... If you buy car used (like us) get those correct pins AND serial numbers. Car is great other than that, we live in DC, the nav system is awesome and a must, much better than BMW, space is great (been remodeling condo and moving furniture). Gas milage from 15-24mpg depending on city/hwy. Not a hardcore 4x4, but just snowed and we never felt the vehicle lose ground on hills or get bogged down, just powered on through

Drives like a dream - 2007 Acura MDX
By mnozek - April 6 - 10:32 amThis is the first Japanese SUV we have had in a while. Last SUVs were Yukon XL and Envoy XL. This beats them out by far. Performs almost as well as our Mercedes e class but has the utility of our Envoy. We always take this on trips and it is very comfortable. The third row is great for smaller children but not so much for adults. Best SUV so far. No problems within our almost 2 years ownership.

Rear main seal - transmission - 2005 Acura MDX
By Van Sean - April 4 - 11:55 amBarely out of warranty and the rear main seal (rear crankshaft seal) failed. The sad part is I just paid off this sucker. Transmission also started to develop problems. Replacing the rear main seal can cost upward $2000 (mostly labor) but this wont stop the other transmission related problems. I finally gave up and traded it in for a new car. This was a loss-loss situation for me. Acura quality is falling apart. Sadly, I am not the only ones being affected by this...avoid at all cost!

Great car so far... - 2008 Acura TL
By swobig - April 3 - 2:39 pmBought my 08 in March of 09 and have been pleased with it so far. Good car - does everything well, probably not the best in anything, but is very good at everything. Good power, handling, comfort and layout. Looked at a 09 Accord V6, but the layout and features of this 08 were much better. The styling of the 09 seems a little off to me, plus the price was much higher. The 08 is much more conservative, but classy. Happy with my purchase and would recommend - I dont have the rattles that some talk about although it takes some getting used to how the engine seems to brake when you let your foot off the gas instead of coasting like most cars do...

I love to drive my Acura - 2009 Acura TL
By Actingout - April 3 - 2:00 pmHaving always driven Lincolns, I wanted to look around when I was ready to trade. As soon as I drove the Acura TL, I knew this was the car I wanted. I cant say enough good about it. It beautiful to look at, rides like a dream and has everything I wanted on it without having to pay for the extras...moon roof, heated seats, premium sound system. Because Im hearing impaired, Ive never been able to enjoy a car sound system. Now, I open the roof, turn on the XM radio and hear clearly....wow! I drove several other brands and none compared with the Acura TL. Do yourself a favor...go get one...youll be glad you did.
