The TL Type-S makes its debut this year, sporting a 260-horsepower engine, sport-tuned suspension, Vehicle Stability Assist and 17-inch tires. 2002 also sees some styling revisions to the TL's front end and taillights. An in-dash six-CD changer, one-touch-up driver's window and two-position memory system for driver seat and mirrors are newly standard on both the 3.2 TL and the Type-S, and Acura has added insulation materials to the doors and reshaped the side mirrors to cut down on wind and road noise inside the cabin. Anthracite Metallic, Aegean Blue Pearl and Eternal Blue Pearl are the new exterior colors.

By BGreen - July 7 - 3:00 amI went to dealer for a regular oil change and a brand new 3.2 TL type s w/navigation was sitting in front of my face. The color really sold me on it, Aeigean blue. I went for a drive and the next thing you know Im driving out wth it. The navigation is one of the best features. All you bimmer fans out there, paying all that money and you dont even have navigation. If you want all the bells and whistles plus outstanding performance, check out the TL type S.

By not-as-happy - October 5 - 10:00 amHonda/Acura is the only car Ive ever driven - but Im starting to wonder whats going on over there. My TL rattled more than any other car Ive ever DRIVEN, much less owned. The dashboard and console squeaked and rattled like crazy. I have it on pretty good authority that Acura "knows about the problem and it can be fixed." It was otherwise a tremendous automobile. but the ride was a little too rough for my taste so I took it back for an MDX - Best car Ive ever driven but after 2 months IT squeaks a little. WHATS GOING ON OVER THERE?- YOU GUYS GET YOU QUALITY- CONTROL ACT TOGETHER!

Transmission Whiplash 2002 TL - 2002 Acura TL
By fixerupper - August 16 - 3:26 amMajor problem. Transmission hesitates then engages first gear very abruptly. Happens from a dead stop or when slowing down and speeding up. There is a very noticable delay from the time I start accelerating till the car goes hard into motion. After 5 trips to the dealer, and being told that they can not find the problem or thats the way it is supposed to work I am going back and demand at least a new trany. My first couple weeks driving this thing I developed a serious stiff neck.
