This Year's Model Updates:

The TL has been completely redesigned for 2004. A 270-horsepower V6 is standard, and both a six-speed manual and a five-speed automatic transmission are available. The level of luxury inside the cabin is up, and driving dynamics are better than ever.

Pros:
  • Luxurious interior, long list of standard equipment, powerful V6 engine, slick-shifting six-speed manual, pleasant blend of ride comfort and fun.

  • Too Many Problems! - 2004 Acura TL
    By -

I have owned my TL for almost a year now and have never had so many problems with a car and such bad service from the Acura dealerships!!! My car has been to service over 10 times in the past year for all kinds of different reasons, be careful when buying the TL!

  • Do not let the exterior fool you. - 2004 Acura TL

Acura TL has a niece new look but overall I am not satisfied with the car. The reviews Ive read before was right on point (I thought that previous purchasers were hard to please). Theres a rattling sound that comes from dash area (near the phone adapter plug) when the car accelerates. The leather is awful, Ive had the car since April 2004 and it looks like Ive had it for years. I do not have anyone the passenger seat is not used on a regular basis and it looks terrible. I am very cautious when placing items on my seats, matter of fact I do not items on the systems trying to avoid staining them.

  • Excellent car with some build issues - 2004 Acura TL

This is a fabulous car for the money. I considered a loaded 2004 BMW 330i before choosing the new 2004 TL. Features such as 270 HP, wonderful auto with stick shift, excellent sound system, slick navigation, voice control, and the $35k price tag sold me on the new TL. The TLs handling is about 70-80% of the 330i with sport package; auto to auto comparison. Had a number of build problems. In the first 1,200 miles, the car has been in the service department 3 times. The dealers service department provides excellent service. I do have a problem with a 35k new car rattling. The tech had to reinsulate all the cars doors plus added components.

  • Reliability/customer care could improve - 2004 Acura TL

Performance, tasteful interior, and slick exterior designs are the best features of this car. I chose the Acura TL over its German competitors because of reliability. However, I was let down when after two weeks the sound system started developing a severe static noise such that listening to anything in the car was unberable. I was further let down when the problem was not fixed after the car had been left with the dealer twice for several days. Going for the third time to see if they can figure the problem out. Not an enjoyable experience! So much for reliability and customer care :(

  • TL? - 2004 Acura TL

The leathers seats wear to easily. My car is under 12k and the seats looks like 30k. The manual version at times seems hard to drive getting off first gear. Not as smooth as the 3 series that I owned. Dont get me wrong, the car is awesome, except for these flaws. I am considering getting rid of it for the 2006 BMW 3 series. I guess I can not get use to the front wheel drive, so I will probably switch back to uncomparable 3 series.

  • LS to TL - 2004 Acura TL

I sold my Lincoln LS and bought the TL. The Acura TL is more fun to drive and even more comfortable. TL interior appointments are first class, best I have seen. There is a very soothing feeling being in the cockpit, blue lights and best looking of all. Navigation system is best in the industry and extremly user friendly.

  • Love My TL - 2004 Acura TL

I have had my TL since February and love it! It is fun to drive and I absolutely enjoy my XM radio! I traded my SUV Expedition for this and what a difference! Total recommend this car. I am also getting great gas mileage.

  • Best car for the money - 2004 Acura TL

Got a certified used 2004 NAVI TL (9000 miles on it) and I agree with most of the reviews. Performance is amazing. Navigation, handsfree and bluetooth systems work perfectly. Handlng and power and great. Interior/Exterior finish is very good as well. Only complaint is there is a fair amount of rattling (mainly in the front console) but Ill get that taken care of when I take the car to the dealer for its 15K maintence. Also, the ride can be a litte rough (but I attribue that to its sport car type features) and the aluminum trim along the sides of front console scratch very easily

  • So far, not satisfied - 2004 Acura TL

We have only had the car for a short period of time but we have already noticed rattles and the Check Engine light just came on. Otherwise, we are very happy with the car. It is comfortable and fun to drive. Probably too early to tell, but we are worried and annoyed already.
