This Year's Model Updates:

The TL has been completely redesigned for 2004. A 270-horsepower V6 is standard, and both a six-speed manual and a five-speed automatic transmission are available. The level of luxury inside the cabin is up, and driving dynamics are better than ever.

Pros:
  • Luxurious interior, long list of standard equipment, powerful V6 engine, slick-shifting six-speed manual, pleasant blend of ride comfort and fun.

  • A so-so product in a competitive segment - 2004 Acura TL

I traded in a 2000 BMW 330i coupe as I need a 4-door sedan. My original draw to the TL is the impacable specs(HP, torque, tires, fuel consumptions, etc), and the cool exterior. The car drives pretty good, better than most other Japanese cars(except the G35), but what kills this car for me is the excessive oversteer, probably due to the front wheel drive. The notchy gas pedal response doesnt help either. The suspension also cannot be really rated as sporty. The car starts to float at 80mph, and the steering response is really unsure during moderately-spirited manuvers.

the tl is great. the biggest and only downfall that i can find with it is the fuel economy. im not getting any kind of mileage what so ever. also the car seems to have quite a few blind spots when looking to change lanes on the highway, but the styling and ride cant be matched by any other car that ive had the pleasure of owning or riding in.

I just recently bought a TL and have already had it back to fix a faulty check engine light. Further, the tires case the car to vibrate on the highway and the car has several rattles.

Does not have the sport of my last acura, integra GSR. First to second shift is notchy, does not spool up as quickly. Stereo is great, but other than that cant justify its 34k price tag.

  • Good but not German - 2004 Acura TL
    By -

After owning many German cars (of VW/Audi/BMW makes) I jumped to this American/Japanese blend. Great value for money, sprightly performance, and leap years beyond other Honda products (including the previous generation TL). Its just not up to European (or Infiniti G35) standards on fit and finish, performance and overall haptics.

  • Whats wrong with me? - 2004 Acura TL

So many people like this car. I purchased new based on short test drive & Consumer Reports review. This car looks great, particularly the exterior (I rated 10). However the suspension is very harsh, nothing luxurious about it. The car plows on turns due to the heavy front end (front wheel drive). It even hydroplanes more than most. Maybe Im too old for this ride @ 44 but my take is pretty package, lousy car. I traded after only 1 year

  • Not a BMW - 2004 Acura TL

I was extremely pleased with the interior features and placement, but the more I look at the exterior, the less I like it -- in hindsight, I should have gone with the BMW 3 series.

  • New TL is the best car for the money - 2004 Acura TL
    By -

Im impressed to this point. The preformance to price ratio on this vehicle is phenomenal. Some aspects of the exterior design are a little clunky but overall the perception is good. The interior is nice although the silver psuedo chrome feels a little tacky. The center console doesnt feel as clean without the navigation unit, it looks like they tried to fill space and came up a little short. The drive is taut and responsive. The only major dislike is that its not RWD. On a scale of 1 to 10 this car is a solid 8.
