This Year's Model Updates:

Other than a new tire-pressure monitor and altered engine management (for reduced torque steer), the Acura TL is mechanically unchanged for 2006. As with all 2006 Acura cars, there is a longer powertrain warranty for the TL. It now provides six years/70,000 miles of protection. New SAE testing procedures have dropped the TL's horsepower rating from 270 to 258.

Pros:
  • Luxurious interior, long list of standard equipment, powerful V6 engine, slick-shifting six-speed manual, pleasant blend of ride comfort and fun, superb sound system.
Cons:

  • Plush vs Performance - 2006 Acura TL

I recently purchased an 07 TSX and traded in my 06 TL. I like the handling of the TSX much better, but I missed the power, fit, and finish of my 06 TL so I went back and traded back the new TSX for my 06 TL which was still on the property. $ouch but worth it.

  • This car will spoil you - 2006 Acura TL

The Acura TL is the kind of car that makes driving much more enjoyable than previously thought possible. The sound system, navigation, driving position, and performance are top notch. Brakes are generally good. XM radio is fantastic. Fuel economy for me is 32 MPG @ 73 MPH on cruise. You will feel the road, so dont buy if you like a "floating" feeling. The car feels strong and well built. The performance is very good. My dad actually bought one after driving mine!

  • Fun, Performance, Great Looking - 2006 Acura TL

I purchased the 2006 Acura TL and it is an amazing car! I did quite a bit of research and bang for the buck, this car has it. I just came back from a few long trips and I cant wait to go out again. I actually got 34 MPG on the highway and I avg about 26 MPG around town. The hands free bluetooth works great! The acceleration, the comfort, the stereo/CD/XM radio are all fantastic. If you are thinking about a Lexus, or a BMW I urge you to drive a TL or an RL. These cars are great and the prices are reasonable for all of the options you get. Normally my wife gets to drive the new car and I take the older of the two we have. Shes not getting this one! Its all mine!!

  • Best of the Best - 2006 Acura TL

This is our second TL and we have a bias for Honda/Acura and the TL in particular. Few other automobiles have the mix of luxury, quality, performance, value and style. The exterior of the car is distinctive with crisp body lines that create interesting shadow and shape covered in a flawless paint finish. Inside the 06 TL you find nothing less than top of the line leather seating, fine carpet and details you would only expect in a much more expensive German sedan. The ergonomics of the interior are excellent and seats are supportive. Power and handling of the car are excellent and above the rest of the class save for the BMW 330 with which the TL competes. The car is Best of the Best.

  • Acura at its best! - 2006 Acura TL

A Smooth, very quiet, well-controlled ride. Engine muted and only emits a soft growl during hard accelleration. Otherwise....silent. Very, very quick accelleration. The suspension inspires confidence around corners and winding curves. The navigation is sweet.....top notch. The safety and convenience features such as the voice recognition programs are top-of-the- line.

  • Great car for the money - 2006 Acura TL

The Acura TL is the best blend of luxury and performance that youll find at this price point. It has outstanding power for a sedan with a wide and very drivable powerband. It had a beautiful, well finished interior. Especially so in the two tone color combinations. The seats are very comfy and supportive enough to keep you from sliding too much during agressive driving. On top of all of this it maintains good fuel economy given its power. Only downside has been the 6 speed manual gear box which is occasionally fickle about going into 3rd on quick shifts. Though reportedly this can be dealt with by using a different gear oil. Overall I think its a top runner in a very competitive class.

  • Nice Car, Poor Service - 2006 Acura TL

I had a volvo previously and I liked that car. I bought this car, since the S60 is outdated and this car is definitely the best buy, nice dash layout and the most friendly car Ive had. The navigation system is by far the best available in the market. The car rides fine if handling is not a key factor. At high speed and when taking curves there are some lateral unwanted moves that make you lose control of the car.

  • Great car, great value - 2006 Acura TL

Overall probably best car Ive ever had, and Ive had many, incl G35 Coupe (still have) and Sedan, and 06 BMW 3- series (didnt like). Does it handle like them or have the power of the Infiniti? No, but it has more power and torque than BMW and its still plenty fun to drive. Very comfortable, great features for the money, excellent ergonomics and, I think, looks great, too. Also, the fact that its FWD does not mean that its not a sport sedan. Its not a Bimmer or Audi, but its still very much a sport sedan. And you get a lot more car for the money than the German cars.

  • NEARLY A PERFECT CAR - 2006 Acura TL

I purchased a 2006 White Diamond Pearl, 6SP NAV. with Parchment interior. In addition to this I added a wood grain steering wheel, both front and rear wood consoles and full ground effects with rear wing spoiler. My OTD price was 35028 and I couldnt be more pleased with this purchase!!! What and incredible car!! A decision (2)years in the making. I researched and test drove a Audi A4 2.0, BMW 330I, Acura TSX and Subaru Legacy GT Limited and just kept coming back to the TL. My only concern was the torque steer issue which always seemed to come out of every review I read up until this year! Of what I now experience this has been addressed is non-existant. Terrific Car and has it all.

  • Good car for a front wheel drive - 2006 Acura TL
    By -

My TL was a superb choice in my price category. The only issues I have is they have problems with their front windshield, as mine was broken and I have heard of others, also car should really be a rear wheel drive to counter the stability problems when really putting on the speed, either at start up, or passing. The rear exterior design is very boring with the TSX/RSX more sporty. It should be the other way round IMHO.
