This Year's Model Updates:

The TL has been completely redesigned for 2004. A 270-horsepower V6 is standard, and both a six-speed manual and a five-speed automatic transmission are available. The level of luxury inside the cabin is up, and driving dynamics are better than ever.

Pros:
  • Luxurious interior, long list of standard equipment, powerful V6 engine, slick-shifting six-speed manual, pleasant blend of ride comfort and fun.

Never one for non-stylish design, the acura tl drew my undivided attention for exterior beauty. A 4 door sedan in the past would never fly,the new tl style sold me .Options galore, power, handling, comfort, looks, surround sound, its all there -you cant go wrong,an investment for now or years away.

  • A Great car that needs a few changes - 2004 Acura TL

Ive owned this car for about 4 months now and have enjoyed it a lot. The power is excellent and rivals many other vehicles in its price range. Interior comfort is premier. The navigation system is the best in the business (Alpine has always had the best in my view). Exterior styling is great! And a factory audio system that wont leave you wanting more. There are drawbacks though. Front- wheel drive. Poor turning radius. Voice recognition system that apparently understands what it wants to.

  • great car, just waiting for awd - 2004 Acura TL

This is a fun car that is a decent handler with good steering feel. It is at its best when passing or accelerating on straightaway. Its at its worse when turning a corner because of an annoying tug on steering wheel. Cant wait for sh-awd with same engine or maybe a little bit more power. Then it would be ultimate luxury car!!

My car vibrates has since I bought it. Told this is regular occurrence w/ many TLs. Anyone else experience this 55- 65mph. Not an overwhelming shimmy but did need to get new tires after 302K miles.

Beautiful car, silky smooth eng/trans direct competition for BMW 540. Major disappointment: Acura sticker reads 17- 23 city 23-28 mpg prem gas.Appears to be real fraud to me.Decived this buyer. Truth 500 miles of which 300 city 14 mpg and 200 highway 16 mpg. Looking to join class action lawsuit and compensation from Acura/Honda as car will cost several thousand more to operate over 4yrs than represented and a big reason I bought TL instead of G35 or ES330.

  • 2004 Accord, I Mean TL - 2004 Acura TL
    By -

For one year I drove my Honda Accord, from 2003, then with the announcement of the 2004 TL, i sold mine. But as soon as i went into the car i realized it had some very similar attributes to the Accord. Same styling, same navi, same leather options and all. When i went for a test drive i found it extremly uncomfortable. I could feel every bump in the road and more. But i was very happy that when i put my foot on the accelerator it zoomed off with the roar i loved. Over all its a great car but i wouldnt recommend selling your accord to get another accord, i mean TL.

Everyone who purchases or leases a new car thinks their car is the best so Im not going to bore you with "this is the best car ever made". What I will tell you are the early build problems that Acura is currently working on. *Memory Seats lose their settings, a few rattle noises reported, and the 50+ mph vibration issue. More info at www.acura-tl.com If you can live with these early build problems for awhile I believe you will not be disappointed with the car. Its fast,it sucks up gas, XM radio is pretty neat, and the DVD-Audio will blow you away!

  • Great Value - 2004 Acura TL

Superb value .. really no competition when comparing feature content/amenities/performance and price. With rear or all-wheel drive would be a slam dunk.

  • A very good but not great car. - 2004 Acura TL
    By -

My first TL & Acura. Ive had it for 11 months/13k miles now. I really like the performance and styling, but the annoying rattles (since the car was a few wks old - front doors, front center speaker - unrelated to the sound) prevent me from "loving" the car. Ive not had the time to get them looked at. Maybe next month during the 15KM service. Wait and see what the dealer can do. Sound system is great in specs but the sound is not that great. Thanks to the cheap speakers. Overall, Ive been "fairly happy" with the car (except when I realize that this is a $33K plus car and, more importantly, its an "Acura." This is when the disappointment kicks in).

  • Not as good as past TLs - 2004 Acura TL
    By -

The car handles well in city driving. On the highway the car can wander if careful attention isnt paid. The site lines are not good and the seats are not as comfortable as the 2003 TL. The Navigation system is outstanding. The sound system is good and the brakes are excellent.
