Overview & Reviews
The RL is completely redesigned for 2005, and now sports a 300-horsepower V6 and standard all-wheel drive.
- Quiet cabin, handles well for a large sedan, excellent build and materials quality, unique all-wheel-drive system, innovative navigation system offers real-time traffic information.
- Lacks the low-end grunt of a V8, still lacks the prestige of its European competition.

The best of RLs yet! - 2005 Acura RL
By Lessie - August 30 - 11:15 amThis is the 6th Acura I have owned -- starting w/ Legends. This is the best yet. Love the bells and whistles, plenty of them. Quick movement from 300 horsepower. However, not a knock out in styling, too much like the TL. But performance, top of the line. Happy to be an owner. Sound system is the best ever, listen to the 5.1 surround sound music in this car, I need a chauffer. To the owners who have not learned the detail of this vehicle, you are missing out.

My Acura - 2005 Acura RL
By Acura RL SH-AWD - August 22 - 4:34 pmThe Acura is a decent car. It should have rain-sensing wipers but hey, not every car is perfect.

Excellent overall value - 2005 Acura RL
By acusacto - August 21 - 8:37 pmI went back and forth between the 2005 RL and the 2006 Lexus GS300. The GS300 had a better feel for the road, but you are paying a few thousand dollars just for the name. The RL ride may be a little more boring, but it is much more spacious feeling than the GS300, and the seating position is better to see the road. The RLs standard nav, awesome sound system system, and XM radio represent much better value. Getting around 19 mpg city.

Best Value in the Market - 2005 Acura RL
By Lamar - August 18 - 9:42 amI looked at the Lexus & Infiniti, and by far nothing compared to the RL. The Acura is so loaded with stuff I couldnt ask for anything else! The all-wheel drive is seamless and absolutely incredible around turns. I love the Voice-Activated Nav system, I can say "temperature 57 degrees", its crazy. If you want the best bang for the buck go with the Acura.

Love it, recommend it - 2005 Acura RL
By Petemc - August 10 - 2:54 amNice luxury vehicle. Tested against most competition (BMW, Audi, Infinity) and was best overall. Technically advanced...do not purchase if you are technically challenged. Interior is outstanding, 5.1 surround sound is excellent. Exterior paint quality is best out there. Drives like a smaller car, SH-AWD does work and enables advanced performance around corners. I would definitely buy it again. Pete

Superb! - 2005 Acura RL
By ziggy - August 9 - 1:34 pmI had a 2000 TL for 5 years and 134000 miles. I hated to part with it but now that I have, OH BOY ! Love this car ! Powerful, excelent handling, loads of toys that for the most part are intuitive. The hard part of driving this car will be avoiding tickets.

Keep this car in mind - 2005 Acura RL
By CJL - August 7 - 12:29 amAcura may have been easily overlooked in the past for the over conservative styling and mediocre performance when it came to a luxury sedan - no more! This car is packed with everything you could need - and then some. It could be a generational thing, but Im 39 and found the technology smart, easy and fun to use. Well thought out and with so many ways to do things, you can pick your style - voice, direct or a combination of both. It really feels like a luxury sedan when you want it to be, but steps up to the plate for some fun, sporty driving when you need it to be. The technology, sound system (wow!), fit and finish will blow you away. Look out Lexus, Acura has come a knocking.

RL 2005 - 2005 Acura RL
By donna graham elliott - August 6 - 12:09 pmI test drove it twice it is the second RL that I have purchased. That is because the first one was so reliable. I still have it. I have never owned two of the very same vehicle. I thought that did not make sense when people did that. Now I understand why.

Great but not Perfect Car - 2005 Acura RL
By wmhipps - August 5 - 1:08 amI have had my RL about 6 weeks. Love all the tech toys and no one seems to get ergonomics better. Usually too many bells and whistles is a bad sign of a thrown together product, but this car is great. I got the 18" chrome wheels with blue exterior and I get lots of compliments.
