Overview & Reviews
The Acura MDX is a midsize luxury SUV with a carlike unibody platform and three rows of seats. The original MDX bowed in 2001, at a time when most competitors still featured body-on-frame construction and the term "crossover" was but a glimmer in some marketer's eye. Since then, Acura has maintained the MDX's family-friendly packaging, including standard seven-passenger seating, while spicing up the recipe with various styling, performance and handling enhancements. In typical Acura fashion, every MDX comes well equipped, with options generally limited to a few choice features bundled into packages.
New or used, the Acura MDX stands out for its comfort, versatility and refinement. It's one of our top recommendations for a family-oriented luxury crossover SUV. In reviews, we've found the MDX to be a polished performer, as it remains one of the more engaging luxury crossovers to drive and also provides a commendably supple ride. Weak points include cramped third-row accommodations for adults and less sumptuous interior appointments than in some rivals, though the MDX's strong resale value offers ample compensation.

I Love My MDX - 2006 Acura MDX
By Jenina - June 29 - 7:28 pmI checkd out my MDX for 3 months before I purchased. I definitely did my homework before I bought this vehicle, the only opponent to the MDX was the Lexus and the deciding factor was when I realized that every option added to the Lexus would cost atleast another grand! With the MDX all the goodies were included.

M D X - 2005 Acura MDX
By Edgardo - June 23 - 5:33 amThis is a great every day car, high, responsive and safe. 3rd seat is great if you need it, but you are taking away confort in the 2nd seats. Navigation system is awesome, worth the extra money and so is the quality of sound.

Great choice - 2005 Acura MDX
By Deborah - June 12 - 9:53 amThis is a great choice. The engine is seemless, you do not feel it shifting like some other luxury SUVs I test drove. Living near the mountains the power and engine is great, such a smooth ride. The size is great since I did not want a huge SUV. Love that it is ULEV2, which most SUVs are not.

2008 MDX with Tech Package - 2008 Acura MDX
By Salil - June 11 - 6:26 pmJust purchased the 2008 MDX with Tech Package. Its a great solid SUV with AWD std. This SUV is very good compared to other luxury SUV (the lexus RX350 is too small inside, the BMW 5 series is too expensive, the Cadillac SRX is too much of a station wagon, and the Escalade is too big). We love the backup camera and the navigation, worth every penny. I would say Acura has done a wonderful job outside and inside, although there are some cost cutting methods implemented like the door handles. I really wish the tech package had the automatic trunk (hatch) release where is opens up completely. You have to buy the Ent. Pack to get that. Overall its a great SUV at this price point.

By sklug - June 9 - 8:56 pmGreat car after 18 months no complaints at all and no issues at all. Fuel Economy is much better than expected. 23.4 mpg on our last trip to OHIO running 75 mph. Gets 18.6 around town. Goes great in the snow on trips to the northwoods. entertainment system and is great. Nav is a little out of date. My wife will never drive a different suv.

Great SUV - 2005 Acura MDX
By WB - June 9 - 4:43 amGreat handling on the highway, and the rural areas where I drive. Super Navigational system, it is easy to use. There is a lot of leg and shoulder room in this SUV. I have had Jeep Limiteds before, and this SUV is built solid.

Beautiful Vehicle - 2016 Acura MDX
By Tom - June 7 - 10:42 amThis is our first Acura. Although it has only been a month, this car has been a pleasure to drive. No vibrations or problems with shifting as mentioned in other reviews. The ride is smooth and comfortable, more so than with the Lexus RX350 that we tested prior to purchasing the MDX.

Perhaps the first year had more lemons - 2001 Acura MDX
By Jen Tow - June 7 - 12:02 amExcellent vehicle for city drivers who need a large car. Runs smoothly and has huge carrying capacity. It is not a good 4x4. My previous car, a jeep grand cherokee, was far superior off- road. The Acura transmission overheated on one trip (luckily it has a light on the dash that warns you). On another the power steering failed (luckily the new steering rack was under warranty). The huge coil spring on one of the wheels even broke going over a regular pothole. It is rather delicate, not rugged. But if you keep it on paved roads you will enjoy the smooth ride, quiet engine, easy to use rear seats and cargo room.
