Model Overview:

The Acura MDX is a midsize luxury SUV with a carlike unibody platform and three rows of seats. The original MDX bowed in 2001, at a time when most competitors still featured body-on-frame construction and the term "crossover" was but a glimmer in some marketer's eye. Since then, Acura has maintained the MDX's family-friendly packaging, including standard seven-passenger seating, while spicing up the recipe with various styling, performance and handling enhancements. In typical Acura fashion, every MDX comes well equipped, with options generally limited to a few choice features bundled into packages.

New or used, the Acura MDX stands out for its comfort, versatility and refinement. It's one of our top recommendations for a family-oriented luxury crossover SUV. In reviews, we've found the MDX to be a polished performer, as it remains one of the more engaging luxury crossovers to drive and also provides a commendably supple ride. Weak points include cramped third-row accommodations for adults and less sumptuous interior appointments than in some rivals, though the MDX's strong resale value offers ample compensation.

Traded in our 06 honda Pilot for an 07 MDX, the difference between the two was obvious from the moment you drive off. The MDX feels planted on the road with minimal roll, good acceleration. Im very pleased with my purchase and feel that it was a definitive upgrade from the Honda Pilot.

I test drove an MDX with Navigation and was really impressed. My question is for existing owners as to whether this model has the Handsfreelink (bluetooth) feature that the TL has which allows you to use a Bluetooth enabled phone to work with the car? On the TL, you can dial phone numbers in your Navigation database using your (bluetooth-enabled) cell phone.

  • My First Acura Vehicle - 2007 Acura MDX

This is my first Acura vehicle, I previously owned a BMW coupe & am a current owner of an Odyssey. I primarily got this vehicle because of the value that was packed into this model. Comparing it with a BMW X5 (07- 3.0), this was a much lighter vehicle, lower cost & easier to handle. The ride was also quiet and the seats are comfortable. The third row seats leg/shoulder room is better than the competition. Middle row seats are very comfy for the two outer most, however the middle one is not good for long travel. The driver seat is excellent in holding the driver and power seats have lumbar support. The sound system rocks! Navigation is easy to use & voice commands are very convenient.

This has been an extremely reliable and dependable vehicle to own and to drive. I would recommend highly as either a new and/or used purchase.

  • Quality - 2003 Acura MDX

Bought MDX over Highlander (second seats like a board) and Pilot (too much road noise); worth the additional cost. Inside decor is excellent as is sound quality on Touring pkg system. Nav-didnt really want but now think its great. Crash ratings, stability system, front & side airbags, plus a solid, relatively quiet atmosphere give sense of security.

  • Awesome SUV - 2001 Acura MDX

I purchased this vehicle with about 56000 miles a couple years ago. I have had no issues other than a small coolant leak which was covered under warranty. The car is smooth riding and fun to drive. I pulled a 20 ft boat with ease, I could not even tell it was behind me. I even took it on some light 4 wheel drive excursions and it performed great. Plenty of room for 7 passengers. Gas economy is about average on mine, clocking in at around 18 mpg. I do have a few gripes. Mirror weeps after washing vehicle causing serious water spots down the side of the car when you drive it after washing. Also, some annoying rattles which went away after purchasing new tires. Great SUV.

I was actually contacted by two dealers in Houston who wanted my 2001 MDX to meet used car MDX customer demand. I decided to trade mine in when a new 2003 load arrived. My 2001 sold the same day I picked up my upgraded 2003 (fully loaded). I was surprised at the improved performance/comfort/sound system since I really had great success with 2001. I researched and found MDX still the best SUV on the market bar none!
