Overview & Reviews
The Acura MDX is a midsize luxury SUV with a carlike unibody platform and three rows of seats. The original MDX bowed in 2001, at a time when most competitors still featured body-on-frame construction and the term "crossover" was but a glimmer in some marketer's eye. Since then, Acura has maintained the MDX's family-friendly packaging, including standard seven-passenger seating, while spicing up the recipe with various styling, performance and handling enhancements. In typical Acura fashion, every MDX comes well equipped, with options generally limited to a few choice features bundled into packages.
New or used, the Acura MDX stands out for its comfort, versatility and refinement. It's one of our top recommendations for a family-oriented luxury crossover SUV. In reviews, we've found the MDX to be a polished performer, as it remains one of the more engaging luxury crossovers to drive and also provides a commendably supple ride. Weak points include cramped third-row accommodations for adults and less sumptuous interior appointments than in some rivals, though the MDX's strong resale value offers ample compensation.

Acura MDX = Amazing Sport SUV - 2008 Acura MDX
By CLEW - May 4 - 3:27 pmWe just purchased an 08 MDX with Tech and Entertainment with the power rear door. I drove X5 (3.0 and 4.8), Caddy SRX, and Mazda CX9 and hands down the Acura was the choice to make. It handles like (or better really) than the BMW with so many more options for the price. If you want a great, luxury SUV and want the best quality and value go with the MDX. The handling is so impressive, and the power from the 3.7 litre V6 will shock you. Navi is so easy to use and the whole sound system is unreal!

Great Car - 2004 Acura MDX
By rtcxyz - May 4 - 2:00 amExtremely well designed. Excellent build quality. Classy and functional interior. Accelerates and corners beautifully, rides great. We evaluated the Lexus RX330, BMW X5, Volvo XC90 but the MDX was the clear choice. Only bad news is due to high demand/quality, the dealers arent willing to negotiate from MSRP. At least they are no longer adding a premium over MSRP.

Right Choice - 2008 Acura MDX
By Albert - May 2 - 4:47 pmTest drove Lexus RX 350, Volvo XC90, Pilot, and 2009 Murano before selecting the MDX. Its the best in class. Great SUV. It runs much better after the initial 500 miles or so. GPM got better too. Some of the accessories should have been made standard (roof rail, side molding). The plastic door handle and the same color plastic on the steering wheel make the interior look cheap. Acura should have made them better and add a few hundred dollars to the based. This is sold by Honda/Acura as a luxury SUV.

My 3rd MDX - 2008 Acura MDX
By Ryki - May 1 - 8:04 amThis is my 3rd MDX, I have had a 2001, a 2005 and now a 2008. This is the Best Bang for the Buck SUV on the road. Looks great inside and out. Good performance, good handling, decent feul economy (16 mpg on mixed driving) for a 300 horsepower engine and all these vehicles have proved very reliable.

Best Honda Ever - 2007 Acura MDX
By Hondafan - April 30 - 3:16 pmIve owned over a dozen Hondas and Acuras through the years. I must confess this is probably the best vehicle Honda has ever made, right up there with such ground breakers as the NSX and s2000. Honda has simply built an SUV version of the Acura RL. I should know since I also have an RL. In all but the most aggressive of handling maneuvers the MDX matches the RL. Its very quiet with a nice engine growl when revved. Acceleration is good for such a heavy vehicle. Rear comfort for 2 is excellent. The other 3 spots are for children. Cargo space is ample with the rear seat stowed, towing performance is excellent. Competitors may be better in one category or another, but overall none is even clo

2008 Acura MDX - 2008 Acura MDX
By shaba - April 28 - 4:09 pmLove this vehicle. I was actually considering the Buick Enclave before I test drove the MDX. The MDX feels much more solid, has smooth acceleration, lots of power, corners great!! You feel much more stable in the MDX than the other vehicles in this class. The interior is classy ! You really feel safe in this cage!!

Not a retagged Pilot - 2004 Acura MDX
By Jim Kurp - April 28 - 2:00 amBefore purchasing I drove both the MDX and the Pilot. The acceleration and handling of the MDX were far superior to that of the Pilot. It took an adjustment to move from a sedan to a SUV, however, the performance and handling of the MDX is comparable to my prior vehicle (98 Volvo V70). The major difference is the fit/finish/quality of the MDX, which is far superior to that of the Volvo. It is a vehicle I expect to own and enjoy for years to come.

Japanese Waning - 2004 Acura MDX
By Catchey - April 28 - 2:00 amACURA is one of the disappointing vehicle experiences I have ever had. The interior is sound but the plastics used are soft and mar easily, numerous trim pieces have broken. Getting warranty work completed is next to impossible. ACURA uses a just in time inventory between its dealers. After several appointments for warranty work. ACURA takes the money for the service work and they claims to "return" the parts ordered for warranty. The mileage rating is overstated, but still better than most vehicles in its class. Acura achieves the better than average rating by using the thinnest sheet metal ever.

Kumho Tires Transform the MDX - 2005 Acura MDX
By nIKKIMACH - April 26 - 9:37 pmThe Michelins lasted 50,000 miles at that point, I was thinking of trading the car. Too much road noise, and a jarring ride. Then I put on Kumhos and my MDX was transformed. The road noise I disliked was cut in half, the handling got sharper and the ride improved enormously. Replacing the windshield, which we have to do every few years because of grit on the highways in winter, costs a cool thousand bucks. I like the auto wipers, but it would be $500 bucks cheaper without them.
