Overview & Reviews
The Acura MDX is a midsize luxury SUV with a carlike unibody platform and three rows of seats. The original MDX bowed in 2001, at a time when most competitors still featured body-on-frame construction and the term "crossover" was but a glimmer in some marketer's eye. Since then, Acura has maintained the MDX's family-friendly packaging, including standard seven-passenger seating, while spicing up the recipe with various styling, performance and handling enhancements. In typical Acura fashion, every MDX comes well equipped, with options generally limited to a few choice features bundled into packages.
New or used, the Acura MDX stands out for its comfort, versatility and refinement. It's one of our top recommendations for a family-oriented luxury crossover SUV. In reviews, we've found the MDX to be a polished performer, as it remains one of the more engaging luxury crossovers to drive and also provides a commendably supple ride. Weak points include cramped third-row accommodations for adults and less sumptuous interior appointments than in some rivals, though the MDX's strong resale value offers ample compensation.

Pleasure for All - 2008 Acura MDX
By twosweetbabes - June 29 - 9:21 pmAs a busy mom of 6 year old twins, I needed the size of an SUV, but didnt like the size of my Expedition. My kids love the ease of this vehicle and I love all the bells and whistles. The navigation is by far the easier I have ever used, the voice recognition is very useful, can command even climate control! All controls are easy to use and the dashboard is just beautiful. Very smooth ride and an absolute pleasure to own. Fuel economy is not as good as I had hoped, but to be expected in this size vehicle/motor. I would recommend the MDX to anyone w/ children, my kids can open/close the doors w/ ease and the back seat is very comfortable. The safety features are top-notch as well.

New MDX - 2003 Acura MDX
By mry - June 28 - 10:00 amHad a Jeep for 7 years, loved the Cadilliac EXT, but too expensive. Volvo was not helpful at all and too expensive to wait 3 months for XC90. Plus didnt have the power of MDX. Acura of Memphis was great and they really sold the car on their personality and willing to work with me on the trade-in. MDX had all the features I wanted and definitely moves when you step on the gas. I have only heard good things about the Acura service in Memphis, and most everyone loves their MDX. Felt the price was great for all the features we were getting, good crash test ratings and didnt have to do the a la carte menu like Volvo or Lexus [GX or Lx series]

Shamefull quality of Acura - 2008 Acura MDX
By wj - June 24 - 3:44 pmBought the "best" end of MDX and end up with worst nightmare. The quality of the car is a shame. Been back to the dealer 9 or 10 times for repairs and repairs. Defective mirror, roof molding, gas door assembly, steering wheel, front suspension defects. Customer services are horrible both with the dealer and especially the Acura reps. Their attitudes are that you bought the car and you have the problem. Gas mileage is terrible, remember that with current gas price.

Still Love My Acura!! - 2006 Acura MDX
By pearl - June 22 - 7:13 pmI still love my Acura after 2 years of ownership! This is my 2nd car made by Honda and my other was an Accord and I have been very happy with both. The Acura is like a Honda on steroids! Love the back up TV, navigation, onstar, Bluetooth, heated seats, and my kids love the DVD. I would definitely consider another Acura in the future!

Shouldve bought the CX-9 - 2008 Acura MDX
By Disappointed - June 22 - 9:06 amWas shopping for a replacement vehicle for my Honda Pilot late last year and was looking at the Mazda Cx-9, Toyota Highlander and the Acura MDX. Narrowed it down between the Cx-9 and the MDX and chose the MDX based upon the Acura reliability history. Now looking back I wish I would have selected the CX-9 as my MDX has numerous issues that should not accompany an Acura. My radio randomly resets all the preset settings. No one can understand anyone in the car using the Bluetooth. When the moonroof is open you cannot read anything displayed on the radio. Rattle coming from back cargo area, etc. At this pricepoint, you get much more with the Cx-9.

safe, but no acceleration, noisy steering - 2017 Acura MDX
By Simon C - June 21 - 4:51 amI agree with previous post the transmission sometimes is jerky. Also when you turn the wheel it makes a noisy grinding sound.

Great car - horrible gas mileage - 2007 Acura MDX
By D Taylor - June 19 - 12:14 pmOverall this is a great car. Ive strictly driven Lexus for the past few years due to the quality and comfort of their cars/SUVs. This is my first foray with Acura. The MDX is a nice car that is easy to drive, although had I known I would only be getting 12.5 mpg around town, I probably would have purchased something else. Oh, and the back-up camera does not work well if too much light is shining on the back of the car.

Love This Car! - 2005 Acura MDX
By Joanne - June 19 - 9:28 amBought this car in February of 2005. Havent had one problem with it since! Very reliable and very luxurious. Was coming from a 1998 Toyota Camry LE. Compared it to the Lexus RX 330. While the Lexus was nice, it couldnt fit 3 people across the third row comfortably. But my Acura can. The Bose stereo in my MDX simply superb and this car handles so nicely. The nav system is also extremely easy to use. Like the V6 and the AWD. I also like the visibility that comes with being higher off the ground. Will never buy anything other than an Acura. Unfortunately the gas mileage is around 12 MPG. I do mostly city driving but I was expecting more like 16 from a mid-size SUV with just a V6.
