Overview & Reviews
This year the MDX receives standard XM Satellite Radio, a Bluetooth hands-free cell phone interface on Touring models, a larger fuel tank and an enhanced stability control system. The optional rear entertainment system now includes an in-dash six-disc CD changer, and the navigation system has an enhanced database. MDXs with navigation also include the OnStar communications system.
- Room for seven passengers or serious amounts of cargo, gutsy V6 engine, well-balanced suspension, top-rated crash test scores.
- Limited off-road capability, below-average tow rating, ho-hum interior design and materials.

Love My MDX! - 2005 Acura MDX
By Paula - November 2 - 6:53 pmI appreciate the way my MDX handles. It is as comfortable as a sedan, yet with all the added space and uses like a truck. I am extremely pleased.

Early Review - 2005 Acura MDX
By dsp888 - October 7 - 1:56 pmOnly a month old but a great first impression. I was afraid going to a 6 from a Jeep V8 but this MDX has plenty to torque in all ranges yet cruises at 1500 to 2000 RPM. Easy to drive with great handling and fantastic brakes. Sits a little highter than I am used to, and is larger overall - but the interior room is enormous and the rear camera on the Touring is to die for. While test driving I really spanked it in an empty parking lot and was impressed with the total stability. Lets see what the future brings.

My first Acura experience - 2005 Acura MDX
By Dan Lanza - September 15 - 1:46 amSo far so good. This is a very nice upgrade from my previous vehicle (RAV4L). The voice activated Navigation is worth every penny. I will report back in about 6 months.

Not Luxury Quality - 2005 Acura MDX
By Frank Barton - August 13 - 2:50 pmPurchased new two months ago, we have put 5000 miles on the MDX. At about 1500 miles the LCD display locked up (froze) causing loss of the ability to use the nav or to control the heating and air conditioning (a real bummer when youre lost in a strange city). After turning the car off for approx. 1/2 hr. it appeared that the electronics cooled off enough to start working again. The thermostat on the heater/air conditioner has never worked properly and the interior fogs up easily on humid days. Several other things, like loose retaining screws on some of the external body parts, etc. indicate a general lack of concern for quality.

2005 MDX Premium - 2005 Acura MDX
By RedSox18 - August 7 - 10:26 amI have had Hondas for 15 years and have owned two CRVs during that time. This Acura was a bit of a splurge for me, but I felt it was a step above the Honda Pilot, offering a solid, quality vehicle with a little more luxury, comfort and style. I spend a couple of hours per day in my car, so I am pleased with the purchase so far. I have two kids, and the MDX comes standard with side curtain airbags, which the Pilot does not. So far, I am impressed with the MDX and the smooth ride and responsive handling. It handles well in rain and snow, and hugs dry pavement much better than my small SUVs. Highly recommend this quality vehicle. Loads of room, too!

Luxurious and Practical - 2005 Acura MDX
By PhoenixSun - July 15 - 6:46 pmResearched many comparable SUVs and selected the Acura MDX Touring Edition (Silver w/ Quartz interior). After 2 weeks, Ive been very pleased with the performance, comfort and features. Great on the open highway, as well as on unpaved roads. Still brand new, but averaging about 18-19 miles to the gallon. The MDX does take premium gas, which is a bit more painful these days of high gas prices. Was able to purchase the vehicle for $500.00 over invoice and that was with body-side moldings also added.

Overall a great vehicle - 2005 Acura MDX
By Michael - April 26 - 2:13 amLooked at Pilot, Lexus 330, Volvo X90, BMW X5 and decided on MDX due to Acura reliability, safety, price and engine. Pilot too bland, Lexus not enough storage, Volvo did not like turbo charged engine and price and BMW not enough storage, price and reliabuility. Have 7,500 miles and so far AOK.

Great overall, minor issues - 2005 Acura MDX
By edhryb - January 17 - 10:40 pmStill one of the best luxury SUV bargains out there. Great balance of performance, function, technology, safety and quality. Nice improvments for 2005. The one annoying problem that has been an issue for years is a brake "thud" when applying brakes backing up. Seems silly that Acura cant fix an embarrassing problem after years of feedback on this.
