Overview & Reviews
Introduced last year, Acura's capable SUV receives only minor changes for 2002. There are four new exterior colors, and enhancements have been made to reduce noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) for a quieter, more comfortable ride.
- Powerful V6 engine, roomy interior, fold-flat third-row seat, sophisticated 4WD system.
- Limited off-road capability, below-average tow rating, lacks personality.

Happy with decision - 2002 Acura MDX
By Comet - June 4 - 10:00 amI picked up the MDX on Monday and left for a trip on that Friday. Extremely pleased with feel, ride (smooth), the handling and I love the navigation system. My two children think it is great. Quite a few admiring looks on I- 10. So far I am very pleased.

LOKO MDX - 2002 Acura MDX
By lokoforever - April 22 - 10:00 amThe car has exceeded all of our expectations--its very attractive inside and out, its very comfortable on long trips, and it performs much better than any other SUV weve ever driven. The Acura Navigation System is well worth the money!!!

update 2002 - 2002 Acura MDX
By jcy - March 5 - 10:00 ammuch improved in noise reduction(I can tell the difference since I had owned a 2001 MDX before I traded it in for 2002 model) well, still not perfect, wish it may enlarge the trunk space particularly after 3rd row seat up.

Feeling Great After 9 Months - 2002 Acura MDX
By RedMdxMemphis - March 5 - 10:00 amI love the MDX after 9 months. Hondas magic 3rd row seat is still the best. For daily routine, the ride is just smooth as silk. The computerized 4 wheel drive control is wonderful. Glad to be in this car when it is water all over the place. Hondas quality and drive. we just love it.. for that full price, we could not get a BMW with 7 seats (which they still dont have) and navigation, or Mercedez with the comfort of driving and convenience of 3rd row seat. MDX accelerates nicely with 24HP. I hardly use the gear shift beyond 4th and 5th. I got used to the size and huge inside space. It is a great ride with useful features for home.

Worth the wait! - 2002 Acura MDX
By Burbanlover - February 18 - 12:40 pmAs my "alias" implies I drive a Suburban, while I traded my wifes 98 Discovery in for the new MDX. Although we waited for five months, the vehicle was worth it. Its road mannerisms are more car-like than an SUV but can accommodate more than four people (15 total when adding the Suburbans capacity). All joking aside, as a parent, I am increasingly discouraged by sedan manufactures turning rear seats into "buckets" reducing their effective capacity by one.

noisy noisy - 2002 Acura MDX
By Norick Baboomian - January 27 - 10:00 amIts a ok suv to have, couldnt wait to buy it. But for a $45k suv I could buy a quieter suv. Lots of wind and road noise. The armrest is not comfortble while driving. Should have waited another year so I can get an improved 2002 model. Acura doesnt take the responsibility to upgrade it, so I am not happy with their service. One of the victims of a first year production car buyr.

MDX The Cross Over SUV - 2002 Acura MDX
By krc21756 - December 16 - 10:00 amThe wait was long (3 months) but well worth it.Visibility is excellant. No blind spots. Handling is supurb. Body lean is minimal as is nosedive when braking. The power is awesome. 240 HP 245ft-lbs @3000 rpm. 80mph @ around 2000rpm.0 to 60 in 8 seconds not bad for something that weighs 4300lbs. 16- 17 mpg city driving! This is the SUV to copy and manufacturers are. The upcoming Volvo XC-90, The Porche Cayenne. The Honda Pilot. Improvements can be made and Im sure theyre working on it. Quaility is what you would expect from a luxury vehicle especially when the build only 40,000 units a year. The automotive industry is finally getting interesting again after years of stagnating.
