Model Overview:

The Acura MDX is a midsize luxury SUV with a carlike unibody platform and three rows of seats. The original MDX bowed in 2001, at a time when most competitors still featured body-on-frame construction and the term "crossover" was but a glimmer in some marketer's eye. Since then, Acura has maintained the MDX's family-friendly packaging, including standard seven-passenger seating, while spicing up the recipe with various styling, performance and handling enhancements. In typical Acura fashion, every MDX comes well equipped, with options generally limited to a few choice features bundled into packages.

New or used, the Acura MDX stands out for its comfort, versatility and refinement. It's one of our top recommendations for a family-oriented luxury crossover SUV. In reviews, we've found the MDX to be a polished performer, as it remains one of the more engaging luxury crossovers to drive and also provides a commendably supple ride. Weak points include cramped third-row accommodations for adults and less sumptuous interior appointments than in some rivals, though the MDX's strong resale value offers ample compensation.

  • Rattling noisy cabin. - 2016 Acura MDX

I got 2016 MDX in last June. It was ok for about six month then from passenger side middle row some kind of noise (like two plastic or rubbing two seat together) start coming. I try real hard to pin point but can not pin point. Now is about more then eight month I have vehicle and sound is coming everywhere, I dont know what is solution, is that my vehicle only or most mdx? Very very poor acceleration and uneasy shifting. I plan to change with other brand SUV, but before that I am going to take to dealership and/or body shop just for that noise.

Ive spent a lot of seat time in many SUVs. MDX has the best compromises between utility and sport. Too little utility X5, FX35/45, RX330. Reliability issues ML320/500. Unproven reliability XC90, Toureg (sp?), SRX. You got to be kinding/what were they thinking? Cayenne, G500.

  • The MDX is the best SUV I have ever owne - 2002 Acura MDX

This is the best SUV I have ever owned. I traded in my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee for this vehicle. This is a great automobile.

  • JERKY RIDE!!!! - 2016 Acura MDX
    By -

I decided to lease a 2016 MDX. It currently has about 700 miles and Oh man!!! what a dissapointment. The car jerks going from gear 1 to gear 2 and also to gear 3. It is something that you are not supposed to feel on a $50k vehicle.....I have also checked with few of my buddies that own mdx. They have the same feeling about the gear shifting......What a bummer!!!

  • I picked the right one! - 2003 Acura MDX

Picked up the Silver MDX with the Navi and Quartz interior right after the new year. Its really a great SUV. The ride is smooth and very enjoyable. The engine is the perfect size and there is plenty of room for anything you would like to carry. I looked at several SUVs in the same price range and this one wins hands down. From what I see so far I did pick the right one.

  • Fine SUV - 2003 Acura MDX

Overall very happy. Just passed 4000 miles in 6 weeks. Excellent build quality, quiet and generally comfortable. Underpowered compared to American competition, especially from a dead stop. Gas mileage slightly less than EPA.

I love my MDX!! Considered Pilot, but interior/exterior quality were not the same. No sunroof or heated seats in the Pilot either! MDX does not have some features youd expect for the money - auto/HID headlights especially, and it needs the touring pkg for power passenger seat, 6 disc CD, and without it roofrack is a $300 option. Tall folks will have trouble finding a place for their left foot, and the transmission hunts for its gear on only slight upgrades. Overall, I LOVE IT!! (Build more, please!)

This vehicle has the quality, size (interior, exterior)appropriate for most buyers. We have this SUV and a 2002 Mercedes sedan. The MDX is the preferred transportation.

  • Acura MDX Base Model - 2004 Acura MDX
    By -

Had a Jeep Grand Cherokee for 9 years. After looking at the flexability, performance, winter driving and reliability of Lexus, BMW, Volvo, Infinity, Nisson, VW,Toyota and Acura; there was really only one choice - the ACURA MDX. A test drove all the SUVs and read information for two months before making the final pick. I paid $36,500 ($400 under invoice). It was the base model. For an extra $4,000 to $6,000 I could have got some nice extras (NAV, DVD, Sound system, etc.) but decided the base model was a great deal. We just had our first big snow storm in New England 15" to 30" and the MDX was perfect, I mean just great in the snow and sleet !
