Model Overview:

The Acura MDX is a midsize luxury SUV with a carlike unibody platform and three rows of seats. The original MDX bowed in 2001, at a time when most competitors still featured body-on-frame construction and the term "crossover" was but a glimmer in some marketer's eye. Since then, Acura has maintained the MDX's family-friendly packaging, including standard seven-passenger seating, while spicing up the recipe with various styling, performance and handling enhancements. In typical Acura fashion, every MDX comes well equipped, with options generally limited to a few choice features bundled into packages.

New or used, the Acura MDX stands out for its comfort, versatility and refinement. It's one of our top recommendations for a family-oriented luxury crossover SUV. In reviews, we've found the MDX to be a polished performer, as it remains one of the more engaging luxury crossovers to drive and also provides a commendably supple ride. Weak points include cramped third-row accommodations for adults and less sumptuous interior appointments than in some rivals, though the MDX's strong resale value offers ample compensation.

The car is just beautiful. I got the black cherry pearl sport, fully loaded. Its like being strapped into a rocket, what power and handling. The fuel consumption is higher than I expected but I was told that it would take several months before the true fuel consumption is realized, I hope thats true. I love XM and if you love music like I do, I would highly recommend getting the navigation just for this option. I havent tried the sport driving feature yet and probably will not use much in the future. I got the sport just because of the upgrade in leather. The parchment interior looked too yellow, put with upgrade to sport, the leather looks much softer and not so yellow.

Decided on the MDX after driving a BMW 330CI for 1.5 year and needed a family car. Father has an X5 and the MDX, I feel, had most of the same qualities. A little less power, but hey its half the price of the 4.4 X5. Good car for the money. Used to own a 4-Runner and the power of the MDX blows it away.

  • Great mix of utility and fun - 2007 Acura MDX

Great handling for SUV, plus plenty of room for this class vehicle. The electronics are pretty intense, but learnable and the car is full of amenities. Engine doesnt sound as sweet as most acura/hondas but it has plenty of power. The cabin is very quiet even at speed. Leather seating is quite comfortable.

  • Great overall, minor issues - 2005 Acura MDX

Still one of the best luxury SUV bargains out there. Great balance of performance, function, technology, safety and quality. Nice improvments for 2005. The one annoying problem that has been an issue for years is a brake "thud" when applying brakes backing up. Seems silly that Acura cant fix an embarrassing problem after years of feedback on this.

  • Awesome Luxury SUV - 2004 Acura MDX

We looked at 5 other SUVs before we settled on the MDX, including the BMW, VW Touareg, Highlander, Pilot and the Lexus RX330. In the end we picked the MDX for the best combination of luxury, ride, and price. The MDX offers a very quiet ride - but is still very responsive and a lot of fun to drive. The styling is in our opinion the best. The interior is very well laid out and we found this to be the most comforable of all the SUVs we drove. While we wont use the 3rd row seats very often, it is nice to have the extra seating available.

  • Smooth rider - 2005 Acura MDX

At first, I felt that it was big for me to drive, but then when I got used to it, I honestly prefer to drive my Acura MDX instead of Honda Accord/ Coupe. What I like about this car it is very quiet and runs really smooth. I am very happy that we had selected this vehicle.
