Model Overview:

The Acura MDX is a midsize luxury SUV with a carlike unibody platform and three rows of seats. The original MDX bowed in 2001, at a time when most competitors still featured body-on-frame construction and the term "crossover" was but a glimmer in some marketer's eye. Since then, Acura has maintained the MDX's family-friendly packaging, including standard seven-passenger seating, while spicing up the recipe with various styling, performance and handling enhancements. In typical Acura fashion, every MDX comes well equipped, with options generally limited to a few choice features bundled into packages.

New or used, the Acura MDX stands out for its comfort, versatility and refinement. It's one of our top recommendations for a family-oriented luxury crossover SUV. In reviews, we've found the MDX to be a polished performer, as it remains one of the more engaging luxury crossovers to drive and also provides a commendably supple ride. Weak points include cramped third-row accommodations for adults and less sumptuous interior appointments than in some rivals, though the MDX's strong resale value offers ample compensation.

The only option that is missing to make this a PERFECT car is the telescopic steering wheel and XENON lights. Not sure why they skimped here???

I drove a 3.2Tl for 90k with never a glitch, but the MDX is a different story. Its been back to the shop 3 times for engine warning lights; a high-altitude problem my Colorado dealer says, and tells me Acura is working on it. The voice activated nav system doesnt recognize all the commands its supposed to -- again,Im told Acura is working on it. GM uses customers as test drivers, but I expected more from Acura.

750 miles into our Touring MDX and loving it. Cant wait to drive anywhere and anyone. It is comfy. The 3rd row seating is super and such a great alternative to the minivan. My kids love this crossover auto. Cant wait to take this up to the snow this winter.

I just bought this about a month now. Driving is so fun, comfortable, easy to use the navigation. At night the interior looks just like a cockpit (I heard this word from my friends who saw my SUV). Most of the essential features are standard, so there are no additional expenses for a luxury SUV. The handling of this SUV is very nice, any sharp turn, neither passinger nor driver feels much body sway as like other car or SUVs. I rate this SUV 8-9/10 for most of the features.

  • Amazing SUV - 2002 Acura MDX

Excellent vehicle drives like a towncar lifted up in the air. Excellent power and excellent sound system. The Navagation is the most accurate and easy to use, 1 disk covers all 50 states. Plenty of room. Amazing gas mileage. Nothing bad to say its great, if you can get your hands on one. High demand and short supply.

  • Very Happy X Owner - 2004 Acura MDX

Weve owned the car for about 7 months now and are very happy with the overall performance, fit and finish. We considered teh MDX, X3, Lexux 330, and the Sequoia. Overall value, reliability, conform of ride, power plant, third row seat and storage made the MDX an easy choice for us.

  • Unreliable Navigation System - 2016 Acura MDX
    By -

The navigation map system in not reliable. When an update becomes available, be prepared to pay $145 or more plus tax & shipping for the software. My concern is traveling outside of my hometown to places that have updated their roads. Unfortunately for the amount of money spend for this vehicle, you CANNOT rely on the navigation map system. I purchased my vehicle in June 2015 and today (9/13/16) I contacted Honda Navigation System and was told there is no information about a forth coming update to the navigation map system. I have to use Google Maps from my mobile phone which is much more reliable.
