Overview & Reviews
The Acura MDX is a midsize luxury SUV with a carlike unibody platform and three rows of seats. The original MDX bowed in 2001, at a time when most competitors still featured body-on-frame construction and the term "crossover" was but a glimmer in some marketer's eye. Since then, Acura has maintained the MDX's family-friendly packaging, including standard seven-passenger seating, while spicing up the recipe with various styling, performance and handling enhancements. In typical Acura fashion, every MDX comes well equipped, with options generally limited to a few choice features bundled into packages.
New or used, the Acura MDX stands out for its comfort, versatility and refinement. It's one of our top recommendations for a family-oriented luxury crossover SUV. In reviews, we've found the MDX to be a polished performer, as it remains one of the more engaging luxury crossovers to drive and also provides a commendably supple ride. Weak points include cramped third-row accommodations for adults and less sumptuous interior appointments than in some rivals, though the MDX's strong resale value offers ample compensation.

2003 w/ 260HP - Quality & Value - 2003 Acura MDX
By stcamp - July 19 - 10:00 amTraded in Jeep Grand Cherokee for new MDX. One of the few cars dealerships are not giving away by discounting price or 0% financing which erodes resale value of car. Researched and test drove XC90, X5, Aviator, FX35, and though these cars had nicer interiors, the MDX resale value was better & depreciation was less! As a buyer, I had every dealership wanting my business, yet the Acura dealership made me feel "human" instead of feeling like I was lucky to be on their lot. With MDX increasing HP to 260, and avg. MPG around 20...the rest of the pack will have to keep up.

Luxurious and Practical - 2005 Acura MDX
By PhoenixSun - July 15 - 6:46 pmResearched many comparable SUVs and selected the Acura MDX Touring Edition (Silver w/ Quartz interior). After 2 weeks, Ive been very pleased with the performance, comfort and features. Great on the open highway, as well as on unpaved roads. Still brand new, but averaging about 18-19 miles to the gallon. The MDX does take premium gas, which is a bit more painful these days of high gas prices. Was able to purchase the vehicle for $500.00 over invoice and that was with body-side moldings also added.

Couldnt be happier - 2002 Acura MDX
By suvman87 - July 11 - 10:20 amDrives like a sedan. Its roomy and the rear seat folds flat for lots of storage space. Excellent fuel economy so far, averaging about 20 mpg. Outstanding navigation system. Easy to use. Also very good acceleration with the 240 hp engin.

2004 Acura MDX Fast & Fun - 2004 Acura MDX
By bigJoe - July 6 - 2:00 amThe Acura with Mitsu tires drives like a dream. The unit is quiet, starts and accelerates very quickly and smoothly. I liked the fact that its the only SUV with the governments ultra clean engine certification. The other thing I like about acura is theres only a few options.. most eveything is standard. Dual exhaust looks sharp I got the optional side boards for an added touch. excellent paint and fit and a standard sunroof are a plus. Front wheel drive with auto 4 wheel makes it sure footed in slipery weather.

Bad Start - 2004 Acura MDX
By snobny - July 6 - 2:00 amAfter buying my car on Saturday night, Monday afternoon I was going home from work when my car wouldnt start. I ended up haveing it towed to the nearest Acura dealership. This is my second MDX and never had a problem with my first one. I ended up haveing a new navigation system, a whole new computer and ect. put in my car after 300 miles. Acura did take care of me by giving me a car to drive in the mean time, but it just wasnt the same. Now, everythings okay just got off to a bad start.

188 MDX - 2002 Acura MDX
By megabuck2 - July 5 - 10:00 amHad a chance for a long drive from the SF area to L.A and comfort and driveability was excellent. Engine was strong in passing as well as climbing the "Grapevine". The seats were comfortable during the 6+ hours of driving. HVAC was set and forgotten and kept the cabin nice a cool, navigation system helped to find my hotel. Bose system, I enjoyed it immensely during the trip. However, it seems the radio was weak in getting and holding onto radio signals. The road noise was kept to minimum but the wind noise was annoying. It was not "LOUD" but loud enough force me to turn the volume up on the stereo to enjoy Eric Clapton.

Ultimate Performer - 2004 Acura MDX
By Paclark11 - June 30 - 2:00 amThis SUV is awesome. I really do not understand the complaints about gas mileage. I live in the DC Metro Area, and I average 18.5 - 19.6 miles per gallon CITY, and 25.4 - 26.7 HIGHWAY. The MDX is hands down the best luxury SUV under $45,000 sticker. Remember follow the break in period per the owners manual and the gas mileage will increase guaranteed.

Searched Forever - 2002 Acura MDX
By SDSUALUMNI - June 28 - 10:00 amGreat car, look far and long for the right SUV...Almost settled w/ the BMW X- 5, but glad I went w/ Acura. Saved $15000 and maintenence is much less expensive. 30000 mile service on BMW is $1200, EVERY 30000 miles (after your first 60k). No buyers remorse here...Great SUV.

Wind noise is ATROCIOUS - 2002 Acura MDX
By Jerry D. Gibbens - June 28 - 10:00 amMy 2001 MDX has been a DISASTER from the second week. I get TERRIFIC wind noise at speeds in access of 60 miles per hours. The dealership smiles and works on the MDX, but they wind noise continues. I have had the RUN AROUND from the Acura National folks. I would DEFINETELY NOT buy another ACURA.
