Overview & Reviews
The Acura MDX is a midsize luxury SUV with a carlike unibody platform and three rows of seats. The original MDX bowed in 2001, at a time when most competitors still featured body-on-frame construction and the term "crossover" was but a glimmer in some marketer's eye. Since then, Acura has maintained the MDX's family-friendly packaging, including standard seven-passenger seating, while spicing up the recipe with various styling, performance and handling enhancements. In typical Acura fashion, every MDX comes well equipped, with options generally limited to a few choice features bundled into packages.
New or used, the Acura MDX stands out for its comfort, versatility and refinement. It's one of our top recommendations for a family-oriented luxury crossover SUV. In reviews, we've found the MDX to be a polished performer, as it remains one of the more engaging luxury crossovers to drive and also provides a commendably supple ride. Weak points include cramped third-row accommodations for adults and less sumptuous interior appointments than in some rivals, though the MDX's strong resale value offers ample compensation.

A Rational Persons SUV - 2002 Acura MDX
By Rational Buyer - September 22 - 2:00 amI drive SUVs because I need the interior storage space for golf equipment, antiques and garden supplies. The Acura MDX easily offers the largest cargo space of any mid-sized SUV on the market. With the rear seats down, you can fit a 4 by 8 plywood sheet flat between the wheel wells. To have this in a luxury vehicle engineered by Acura makes this a no-brainer. If you want an SUV for the real world, buy an MDX. IF you want a rather useless hood ornament to impress your neighbors or prop up a low self image, buy an X5 or an RX300.

Better than our Lexus - 2004 Acura MDX
By Bootstau - September 19 - 10:00 amThe MDX has surpased my expectations. The ride is quite and extemely comfortable. We had a Lexus RX 300 and it was smaller and did not have the same power. It handles great and has surprising excelleration. The interior is set up great. Plenty of room even in the third row seats.

By newbie2001 - September 19 - 2:00 amAlways gets a lot of glances, on and off the road. Several people comes up to me to compliment my choice of vehicle. Impressive vehicle, never regretted my purchase. Am also continually upgrading, just recently added new body side moulding to my 2001 silver MDX.

Not a Truck! - 2002 Acura MDX
By Andy M - September 16 - 2:00 amExcellent road performance, especially on mountain roads where it is fun! Was considering the Sequoia, but the Sequoia drives like a (well designed) truck and has the interior design feel of a lower level vehicle. The more I drive the Acura, the more pleased I am. The BMW would have been nice, but not at the price and with one less row of seats. The dealer we bought from was outstanding, but another we tried were like sharks.

Best SUV in its Class - 2002 Acura MDX
By abdiver - September 15 - 2:00 amExceeds expectations. Car is easy to drive, has good performance, and is versatile. Compare to competitors vehicles has very few problems for a first year car. Reliability has been excellant thus far. We looked at BMW (fun to drive but cargo area non existent ), Mercedes (3rd row seating doesnt cut it), Lexus RX 300 (nice but too small), and Chevrolet Tahoe (Reliability history). The MDX took all the features we wanted and liked, and integrated them in a seamless well designed, safe, and reliable vehicle.

My first Acura experience - 2005 Acura MDX
By Dan Lanza - September 15 - 1:46 amSo far so good. This is a very nice upgrade from my previous vehicle (RAV4L). The voice activated Navigation is worth every penny. I will report back in about 6 months.

Excellent auto - 2002 Acura MDX
By bobarags - September 13 - 2:00 amThe car is very quiet although road noise could be lessen. The interior is well laid out and very comfortable. I like the idea that the 6 CD player is part of the radio in the dash rather than the glove compartment or trunk.

By PhotoMan - September 13 - 2:00 am15,000 fantastic mile so far, drove it from Massachusetts to Florida and back, 20 MPG average and easily cruises at 90+ MPH all day long. Air conditioning is excellent, handling, comfort first rate. It is very quite even at 90 MPH. Id recommend it to anyone

A NEW Acura As Good As The Acura Legend - 2002 Acura MDX
By slkman99 - September 12 - 2:00 amThis MDX is one of the best craftsmanship found on a new car today for under $40K. I previously owned a Lexus RX300 and let me tell you, the RX300 was a horrible car! Im sorry, but its true. If youre looking for premium luxury at a great price, go for the MDX Premium. Youll love it!! By the way, I also own a 94 Acura Legend, its the best Acura since the Legend.
