Overview & Reviews
The Acura MDX is a midsize luxury SUV with a carlike unibody platform and three rows of seats. The original MDX bowed in 2001, at a time when most competitors still featured body-on-frame construction and the term "crossover" was but a glimmer in some marketer's eye. Since then, Acura has maintained the MDX's family-friendly packaging, including standard seven-passenger seating, while spicing up the recipe with various styling, performance and handling enhancements. In typical Acura fashion, every MDX comes well equipped, with options generally limited to a few choice features bundled into packages.
New or used, the Acura MDX stands out for its comfort, versatility and refinement. It's one of our top recommendations for a family-oriented luxury crossover SUV. In reviews, we've found the MDX to be a polished performer, as it remains one of the more engaging luxury crossovers to drive and also provides a commendably supple ride. Weak points include cramped third-row accommodations for adults and less sumptuous interior appointments than in some rivals, though the MDX's strong resale value offers ample compensation.

Best SUV - MDX - 2003 Acura MDX
By mista - April 12 - 2:00 amBought for my wife, I drive a RL. Most surprised by car like feel and ride. If this Acura product is as good as the others I have owned, then we will have this for a long time. Handling is the best of all SUV that I have been in (MB-320,Expedition,Yukon and Jeep).

It has its quirks - 2002 Acura MDX
By Not too Impressed - April 10 - 2:00 amWhen I bought my MDX I thought I was getting quality that you would expect with the Acura name. I have never spent this much on a vehicle before and had high expectations. There are too many quirks for a $40k car. Rattling noises from every where, doors, rear seats, dashboard and some places that I just cant figure out. The driver seat back squeaks if pushed back on slightly. After a rain or car wash if you roll your window down the inside window gets wet and must be wiped off. Sometimes there is this low ringing noise that I cant figure out where its coming from. Not to mention the annoying brake clicking and gas tank sloshing.

Most adventurous vehicle - 2005 Acura MDX
By Albert Chamakala - April 8 - 10:43 pmThis is the most funnest car to drive on and off road. It has good mileage but at the same time a real nice pick up time from 0-60. Its great for all my needs. The only thing that to my disliking is the shape of the front of the mdx. It has an angular front and Id like it to be more flat.

By OverTime1 - April 1 - 10:00 amAfter looking closely at the Volvo XC90 my wife and I ended up with the MDX. We now have over 7500 miles on it and it has been TREMENDOUS vehicle. Outstanding ride quality, power, comfort and utility.

Good vehicle but not a great vehicle. - 2002 Acura MDX
By Outlaw 06 - March 18 - 2:00 amMy wife drives the MDX primarily for shopping and shuttling around our 3 children. I drive it primarily on weekends. Like all Hondas, the MDX offers good reliability and value (dealer price gouging notwithstanding). The MDX is built well and has a very good engine and drivetrain. The MDXs interior quality and ergonomics are also very good. However, performance is average, handling is unimpressive and the vehicle is noisy at highway speeds. Braking is HORRIBLE, the MDX takes forever to stop! Additionally, the MDX is not very stylish when compared to other "luxury" SUVs such as the BMW X5 or Mercedes-Benz M-Class (regardless of the price difference).

Best Vehicle Ever Owned - 2001 Acura MDX
By dsippin - March 17 - 2:00 amWe are complaetely satified with our MDX. A perfect mix between luxury car and useful SUV. Handles great, extremely comfortable, and quiet. I think the milage is great for a vehicle of this size- it gets over 22 mpg highway. Also, we do use the Nav system all the time- a great system! The only thing I miss is that low-end punch you get from a V-8. Definitely not the last one we will buy.

Love the MDX - 2001 Acura MDX
By Gillian - March 9 - 2:00 amI waited 4 months for my dream MDX and Im pleased with it. Minor issues-- the steering wheel radio controls have been repaired/replaced twice and still dont work right. Not keen on the sheer amount of bass coming out of the sound system either. Car handles well in all weather and road conditions. Its a heavy vehicle so its not as nimble as some similar size SUVs but its solid, stable, and dependable. Vehicle holds 7 people easily although the third row is not comfy for anyone over 5 foot. Overall, one of the best vehicles Ive ever owned.
