Overview & Reviews
The Acura MDX is a midsize luxury SUV with a carlike unibody platform and three rows of seats. The original MDX bowed in 2001, at a time when most competitors still featured body-on-frame construction and the term "crossover" was but a glimmer in some marketer's eye. Since then, Acura has maintained the MDX's family-friendly packaging, including standard seven-passenger seating, while spicing up the recipe with various styling, performance and handling enhancements. In typical Acura fashion, every MDX comes well equipped, with options generally limited to a few choice features bundled into packages.
New or used, the Acura MDX stands out for its comfort, versatility and refinement. It's one of our top recommendations for a family-oriented luxury crossover SUV. In reviews, we've found the MDX to be a polished performer, as it remains one of the more engaging luxury crossovers to drive and also provides a commendably supple ride. Weak points include cramped third-row accommodations for adults and less sumptuous interior appointments than in some rivals, though the MDX's strong resale value offers ample compensation.

mdx 2003 - 2003 Acura MDX
By Tadgh45 - September 30 - 2:00 amI was an original 2001 MDX owner and loved every minute of it.Auto Weeks excellent test of the vehicle in Belize convinced me that this vehicle was for me. So,2 brief years later,it was a no brainer on what my next vehicle would be.All I can say about the 2003 MDX is that Acura actually improved on what I thought could have no improvement.I LOVE it! Bravo,Acura!

Good SUV, crunchy brakes - 2002 Acura MDX
By ParkerMDX - September 29 - 2:00 amOverall, this is a great vehicle. I noticed when it had about 6,000 miles that when I would come to a stop (mostly after it sat idle for a bit) that the brakes make a "crunching" noise. I took it in for its 7500 mile check and it passed. I recently took it back in for the 15K check and verbalized the same concern. They could find nothing wrong and said that even some of the sedans made the same noise and that was typical for Acuras. There have been no safety issues, but that same noise continues.

Great SUV - 2003 Acura MDX
By Kevin G. - September 26 - 2:00 amGreat SUV - would purchase again. Some minor initial items were fixed by the dealer, no problem. Roomy, confortable, decent styling - I think the reviewers who pan the styling are a bit off since Ive checked out all the competition in the same league. This is my third Honda vehicl (first Acura) and Im a devoted fan. All you need to do is put gas and regular maintenance and it will go forever. Great resale value as well. Love it, love it, love it !!!!

Best SUV yet - 2003 Acura MDX
By Bobkes - September 25 - 2:00 amThis Acura is the third suv I have owned, after driving a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder. It is the best yet. Drives and handles like a car with no skittishness in the corners, with wide comfortable seats, good head room, and a comfortable driving position. Plenty of power when you need it, and great in snow. other than gravel trails. Feel it is the best Suv out there now, others are too small, too trucklike, or too expensive for what you get.Small peeve, picked up a couple of parking lot door dings because of no side moulding protection, metal dents easily. Good ride so far, will see how it does after some more miles.

MDX - good but not great - 2003 Acura MDX
By amarlow - September 25 - 2:00 amBought MDX about 6 weeks ago. Really like it except that I find the drivers seat very uncomfortable (too firm) and there is an annoying rattle that I need to take back to dealer to fix. Looked at many SUVs and thought this was the whole package.

My 2003 MDX SS/S Navi Review - 2003 Acura MDX
By vcolangelo - September 24 - 10:00 amThe good news is the MDX is built by Honda and its build quality, ride, quiet cabin and overall look and feel are well above anything experienced with any of my previous GM, Jeep and Ford SUVs . The bad news is the MDX is serviced by Honda. If Honda could learn how to service their their luxury Acura line like Toyota did with Lexus, it would be perfect. I love my MDX, but I love the service my wife gets with her less expensive Lexus GS more. Common Acura owner service complaints include: no free pick up and delivery service; no free loaner; and, no feeling that theres a service person at Acura who really takes an interest in your car.

Thumbs up for my MDX! - 2005 Acura MDX
By DebO - September 22 - 1:53 pmI was deciding between the MDX and the Lexus RX 330. All the reviews, including Edmunds, seem to view the MDX as more utilitarian and less "desirable" than the RX. Well, thankfully I didnt listen--I bought the MDX and I absolutely love it. Im so glad I decided to test drive the MDX. Fuel economy is a little less than I expected in the summer, but a small price to pay for such an awesome SUV.

2001 Acura MDX - 2001 Acura MDX
By MDX driver - September 19 - 2:00 amHas been an excellent vehicle. A faulty master cylinder had to be replaced under warranty but otherwise has been extremely reliable.
